Perez Hilton to Star in Gay Dads of New York

The kinder, gentler Perez Hilton era is going into overdrive.

BunimMurrayLogoPer a Bunim/Murray Productions announcement today, the original Internet gossip king is developing a reality show titled Gay Dads of New York. No word yet on who else, if any, other celebrities might be featured. Hilton so far is the marquee name:

Set in New York City, the reality docu-series will follow Hilton, who recently became a single father, and a group of gay dads, single and married, as they support each other through the ups and downs of raising children.

“Up until now, people know me more for my opinions than who I am,” says Hilton. “This show will give viewers the opportunity to get to know the ‘real’ Perez Hilton and my family, as well as some other really dynamic gay dads, and the women that make up their support system. I am a recent transplant to New York City, looking for friends and open to – hopefully – love. To new beginnings and this exciting new venture!”

The man born Mario Lavandeira says he immediately responded to the show pitch because he and his partner were involved with one of the first gay-dad support groups in Los Angeles in 1998. The project was brought to Bunim/Murray by Suzy Unger of OMG Productions.

The show is currently looking for other families to co-star alongside Hilton. If you’re interested, more info here. This “docu-series,” if it sticks to that genre rather than the reality TV one, has the potential to be a very informative and entertaining companion piece to the likes of Modern Family.
