PictureGroup, AP Join Forces For Photo Distribution

picturegroup.jpgThe Associated Press announced this morning that it had entered into a strategic alliance with digital media production company PictureGroup, allowing the company to distribute its photo content on the AP’s Images Web site.

In addition, AP Images’ 57,000 users will be able to access premium content from PictureGroup, which specializes in covering the entertainment and sports industries. The AP will also have to option of using PictureGroup’s photographers to cover certain events like awards ceremonies, film premieres and parties.

“We’re excited to partner with PictureGroup and [CEO and chief photographer] Frank Micelotta, who’s one of the most respected photographers in the entertainment industry,” said Michael Dutton, the AP’s global director of entertainment products. “This is an important step toward quickly expanding AP Images entertainment content, products and commercial services.”
