As we’ve been hearing for months, changes are brewing at Saturday Night Live as it enters the post-Tina Fey era:

  • Seth Myers is expected to take Fey’s spot as head writer.
  • In-house auditions for Weekend Update, anchored by Fey and Amy Poehler last season, will be held next week.
  • The New York Post today reports that four cast members are about to be cut.
  • Lorne Michaels says he anticipated the job cuts when he hired an “exceptionally large cast” last fall.
  • “After about four years, there’s a staleness that comes over the show,” Michaels told the Post. “For me, the most important thing is keeping the show on the air.”
