Local News Radio Station's 'Once In A Lifetime' Charity Auction Items Kinda Weak

grodin_beethoven.jpgWe're all for charitable causes, and can't even imagine going hungry — although we came close today after arriving late for a media luncheon at Le Cirque. But a couple of "once in a lifetime" auction items provided by WCBS 880 for Hungerthon 2006 struck us as, oh, "Why?":

Bagels, Coffee, Jared Max and You 5-7 am (WCBS only) Spend a morning with Jared Max and find out how much fun it can be talking about sports all day. Help Max decide how to tell the big sports stories of the morning, watch him deliver the sportscast, and ... when drive time is over, Max will help you put together your own sportscast that 880 WCBS-AM will post on wcbs880.com that day. Bagels, coffee, Max and you at the WCBS News Radio Studios in Manhattan.

Spend a day with John Montone
5-9 am (WINS only)
Spend a day with 1010 WINS ace morning street reporter John Montone covering the day's news — on a mutually convenient day. This prize must be claimed no later than May 31, 2007.

An evening of humor with Charles Grodin
All day An evening of humor with actor/commentator Charles Grodin. Grodin's film career has spanned 5 decades — from "Heaven Can Wait" and "Midnight Run" to kids' classics "Clifford" and "Beethoven." He's also been involved in serious commentary — working for "60 Minutes II" for a time, and even hosting his own talk show on CNBC. You can hear his radio commentary on many CBS Radio Stations today — including WCBS in New York. Date and venue to be determined.

More, including a Ray Romano concert — why? — here:
