Rich TV Watchers Like to Watch Rich People

moneybags.PNG

Television viewers with over-flowing bank accounts like to watch other rich people with problems, like ABC’s Desperate Housewives or the pros on Saturday Night Football. The Amazing Race is the only reality show in the top 10, based on Magna Global’s survey of affluent viewers.

Though NBC has slid from first to fourth place in 18-49s over the past few years, it ranks No. 2 in median household income behind only ABC, and it has seven of the top 20 shows in median income.

ABC’s audience has a median income of $64,000, based on adults 25-54 in fourth quarter, compared to NBC’s $60,000, CBS’s $59,000, Fox’s $53,000 and the CW’s $45,000.

Since this is a category of viewers prized by advertisers, the networks take a look at their choices when deciding which shows to renew. But Studio 60 still doesn’t have a hope in hell.
