Rupert Murdoch Turns 80-Years-Old
Happy birthday, Rupert Murdoch. Today you turn 80, but you don’t look a day over 105. We kid! In celebration of Murdoch’s big day, Michael Wolff has a piece at The Guardian that pretty much covers the man’s entire life, and asks what will be next.
Wolff says that Murdoch’s life has included so many twists and turns because he is always trying to reinvent himself:
It’s obsessional, frantic, unplanned, opportunistic – and, in some sense, always about his changing image of himself. It’s about who he wants to be. He is, with a little critical interpretation, less a businessman than a picaresque character. It’s an episodic life.
Say what you want about Murdoch – and FishbowlNY usually does – but the man has had an amazing impact on not only the media, but the country. When he decided to create Fox News, he changed our culture, which isn’t something you can say about too many people.
