Tribune chairman, and the company’s former CEO, Sam Zell spoke with CNBC not only about what the future holds for the Tribune Co, but for the newspaper industry as a whole. Zell foresees the newspaper going, well. Paperless:
Going forward, it’s going to require all kinds of different approaches, including probably most significant, the elimination of home delivery and the replacement of it by PDFs.
PaidContent, who also has video of Zell’s interview, points out that, while they aren’t aware of any Tribune papers who currently follow Zell’s proposed model, other papers do have provided PDF versions of their content as they cut back on print subscriptions.
Zell adds that, as far as Tribune bankruptcy process goes, the many elements and people involved have formed something of a “melting pot,” seeing what ideas and options work best in order to create the right “sauce.”
