New York’s Satanic Temple Seizes Media Opportunity

How does a group that bills itself as The Satanic Temple get New Year’s coverage from CNN, AP, Fleet Street and a rolling number of other outlets? With a simple drawing.

To go along with the mock-up of a proposed seven-foot shrine, there’s also a devilish Indiegogo campaign which, at press time, is closing in on a goal of $20,000. All in support of the organization’s response to early efforts in Oklahoma to erect a statue celebrating the Ten Commandments.

On the Temple website, the movement’s seven tenets are outlined. They include one that rings truer than ever this week in the shadow of all the media coverage:
