CBS Says Unfair Labor Charges Filed By Writers Guild Are 'Baseless'
Sherry Goldman, the PR rep for the WGA, adds that "CBS doesn't seem interested in negotiating." The network, however, begs to differ, according to their response to FishbowlNY: In recent months various WGA representatives have abused the privilege granted to them under article XIX of the collective bargaining agreement by continuously disturbing CBS employees in their work areas during the preparation of live news broadcasts and in doing so disrupting our on-air operations. On April 4 and April 12 we advised the WGA of our growing concerns stating that it was important for them to respect the standards set forth in the agreement and that failure to do so would leave the Company no choice but to limit WGA access to our facilities to times and places approved in advance by management. We offered to meet and discuss this situation with WGA officials before taking any action but they ignored our request to meet. In the end, we felt we had no choice but to take action to ensure that the terms agreed to by all other unions were upheld. As a result of our effort to avoid disruption to our workplace the WGA has now filed a baseless complaint. Can't we all just get along? Email This Post |
