Spy Reunion: Graydon Carter and Kurt Andersen

Isn’t it deliciously ironic that the founders of Spy, which mercilessly spitballed the media establishment throughout the 80s, is the Media Establishment? Keith J. Kelly of The NY Post reports today that Graydon Carter and Kurt Andersen are reuniting. Anderson, who hosts PRI’s bohemian-friendly Studio 360, will pen two big pieces for the glossy ”estimated to be valued in the mid-five figures,” according to Kelly. Carter, who has edited Vanity Fair for a decade and a half, previously edited the salmon-colored weekly and produced the 2002 Robert Evans documentary ”The Kid Stays in the Picture.” Tom Phillips, who rounds out the Spy magazine founding trifecta, is head of print operations at Google, saving the newspaper industry.

The much-missed Spy Magazine, which was founded by Carter and Anderson and Phillips has been credited, tonally, for the snarky barometric readings coming from the blogosphere. You have them to blame, people.
