Richard Rushfield Joins Yahoo Entertainment

As BuzzFeed’s first, former and so far only LA bureau chief, Richard Rushfield saw his fair share of solid Web traffic reports. But he has now moved on to a company where those numbers are truly spectacular.

FishbowlLA tipsters inform that Rushfield joined Yahoo Entertainment a few weeks ago as features editor. Sure enough, we found what looks to be a first bylined item, dated May 30. Although we imagine much of Rushfield’s day-to-day duties will fall on the enterprise and long-lead assignment side.

Rushfield joins Yahoo Entertainment on the heels of former TMZ GM and LA Times vet Alan Citron’s arrival as business lead. The LAT genealogy also extends to Yahoo editor-in-chief Scott Robson, who worked with Rushfield at The Envelope. At this rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if Patrick Goldstein is soon announced as a Yahoo columnist.

Alan Citron Moves Over to Yahoo

LinkedIn remains a very handy tool. Per a FishbowlLA tipster, it does indeed appear that Alan Citron is newly installed as a business lead with Yahoo Entertainment.

Citron, one of the genuinely nicest guys in town, has had a long, illustrious career, one many journalists today would pine for. After working for more than a decade as a reporter and editor at the LA Times, he segued to Ticketmaster Online and MusicNet.

Most recently with BuzzMedia (a.k.a. SpinMedia), Citron was instrumental as founding GM in helping the late Jim Paratore and Harvey Levin build out TMZ. His fellow TMZ-er at Buzz-Spin, Gillian Sheldon Heckendorf, previously left for Berman Braun.

Dylan Howard Takes Over as Celebuzz.com Editor-in-Chief

This is definitely one of the funnier ways we have found out about a major shift in the ranks of top-tier entertainment journalists.

A little earlier today, we posted an item about the new Chevy Chase audio released on celebuzz.com. We were a little confused, as the byline was that of Dylan Howard (pictured), for the past two and a half years the senior executive editor of Star Magazine and Radar Online. Thankfully, Howard has set us straight via email:

Getting the Skinny on Forbes‘ Blog Plans

Last night, FishbowlLA attended a swanky bash at Drai’s in Hollywood thrown by Forbes magazine. In honor of the newest Celebrity 100 list and cover story “The New Celebrity Money Makers,” the publication handed out fancy crystal trophies to several members of Tinseltown’s entrepreneurial elite: Bethenny Frankel, Gene Simmons, Khloe Kardashian and DumbDumb.com, the Internet content project of actors Will Arnett and Jason Bateman. (Ben Silverman accepted on behalf of the absent DumbDumb duo.)

One of the first people we ran into was Lewis D’Vorkin, Forbes‘ Chief Product Officer and formerly of Tru/Slant. He told us that Forbes.com currently has an astonishing 700 bloggers and that the plan is to up that total to 900 by the end of the year.

BUZZMEDIA Acquires TheFrisky.com

Former TMZ-ers Gillian Sheldon and Alan Citron have yet another website to watch over at BUZZMEDIA, their expansive Hollywood-headquartered empire of kinder, gentler celebrity and Internet gossip sites. The company announced today that it has purchased TheFrisky.com from TBS.

Launched in 2008, TheFrisky.com averages upwards of two million unique visitors per month and definitely already has the look and feel of other BUZZMEDIA websites like Go Fug Yourself, The Superficial and Just Jared. Per today’s press release:

“The Frisky has a trusted voice that millions have invited into their daily lives,” said Doug Rohrer, BUZZMEDIA’s Chief Revenue Officer. “Its users chase the intelligence, maturity and humor of its content, and this connection serves as the foundation for the high engagement and influence that are the core of BUZZMEDIA’s work.”

Matt Donnelly: Yet Another Journo Joins Buzznet

Matt Donnelly leaves E! (again), and this time — maybe — for good! Donnelly informed us that “after a great couple of months with Ken Baker and his team, I’m headed back to writing (after newsgathering with Ken) and reporting for Buzznet‘s Celebuzz.”

As we reported earlier, Jeff Leeds and Leslie Simon are already on board, and the place “is exploding.”
