Mogulite Relaunching as ‘The Jane Dough’

When FishbowlNY first heard about Mogulite — an addition to the Dan Abrams empire — we wondered if more ink dedicated to rich people and CEOs was necessary, since people tend to talk about them quite a bit already.

Turns out it wasn’t, because the site is getting tossed to the side and replaced with something called “The Jane Dough.” The site carries the tagline “The Business News We Knead,” and will “explore the world of business through the female prism.”

Amy Tennery and Hilary Reinsberg, the same editors who ran Mogulite, will continue to steer the ship at Jane Dough. Here’s hoping they direct it away from anymore puns.

Dan Abrams Hires Peter Lauria For Mogulite

Dan Abrams‘ new site Mogulite, which will detail the trials and tribulations of media moguls not unlike Abrams himself, is set to launch April 25th.

We’re very curious about Mogulite, especially since we heard that it aims to “elevate the discourse” on media mogul gossip. We’re not quite sure what that means, so we’ve been keeping our ear to the ground for the latest developments. Now Michael Calderone reports that Peter Lauria, who’s covered media moguls in the past for the New York Post and the Daily Beast, is joining the site as consulting editor.

Lauria won’t be joining the operation full-time, but is “expected to write posts and provide tips and contacts” to recently hired managing editor Amy Tennery. Abrams also said he plans on hiring at least one other full-time staffer for Mogulite.

Lauria quietly left the Daily Beast a few months ago, and the New York Post reported that he left the newsroom amid rumors of tensions with management. We can only hope this means we can expect some “elevated discourse” on Tina Brown.

Amy Tennery Named Managing Editor of Dan Abrams’ New Blog Mogulite

Dan Abrams has picked Amy Tennery to serve as the managing editor of his new site Mogulite, a blog about media moguls — a group of people seriously in need of more coverage — the New York Observer reports.

Tennery, formerly of The Real Deal, had concern about the gig at first, worried that “a site focused solely on the rich and powerful would be overly snarky or even petty.” Because media moguls are people, too!

However, her and Abrams agreed that the idea behind the site should be “to mine the inner workings of moguls’ lives while also trying to elevate the discourse.” Good thing. It is in serious need of some elevation. Also, we wonder if Tennery will write about Abrams himself?

So who is Tennery’s favorite mogul? the Observer had the wherewithal to ask (apart from Abrams, no doubt).

It’s Warren Buffet, because “he’s like a Mensa Teddy Bear.” No way! He’s our favorite too!
