Bravo’s Andy Cohen Eyes Madonna, Michelle Obama

As Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live celebrates five years, the numbers are better than ever.

Per a Q&A with show star Andy Cohen by Hollywood Reporter TV editor Lacey Rose, the program this year is up five percent compared to the same period last year with a weekly viewership of 997,000.

When asked who is at the top of his guest wish-list, Cohen came up with four immediate answers:

“I love music people. I’d love Beyonce or Justin Timberlake. I’d still love Madonna, and I think that’ll happen.”

“The best guests for me are people who I’m actually a big fan of and very invested in. And we’re working on the first lady, too. She and I spoke about it, and she said, “I think that’s a thing we could do later in Barack’s second term.” I loved that answer because what that said to me is, when she comes, she’s going to go for it.”

Christie’s Offers Up Some Major Ring Bling

The Christie’s catalog descriptor really does not do this December 10 item justice. CAPS notwitstanding. Sale 2752-Lot 496 is much more than “A DIAMOND RING.” Think more along the lines of “Rich Guy BFF.”

ChristiesDiamondRingThe fluctuating suggested price range for this massive 52.58 karat Golconda diamond is currently set at $9.5 to $12.5 million. While we’re no Christie’s browsing experts, it does seem as if the Web side of the operation could use a better photo stylist. Seriously, does that picture on the right look in any way like something that would make a point-one-percenter start polishing their numbered paddle?

Maybe Jay Z (hyphen-free since this past July) can do some early Beyonce Christmas shopping. Or perhaps one of these guys can grab the ring for their Significant Other’s stocking.

Readers Question Vanity Fair ‘Powers That Be’

It’s one of two lists put forth in the November issue of Vanity Fair under the annual heading of “The New Establishment.”

VFNewEstablishment

The Powers That Be” ranks 25 “members of the power elite [who] demonstrate why they’re not going anywhere soon.” At press time, pretty much all readers who have taken the time to comment have a problem with the list, crowned by cover boy Jay Z and Beyoncé:

DentonFisk: Wow. What a dearth of talent! If this is the best the USA has to offer, we’re done. Most are celebrities for celebrity’s sake. These are the crypt keepers…

Bonnie Fuller Talks Kim-Kanye Baby Pics

From the moment Kanye West revealed from a stage that Kim Kardashian was pregnant, the race has likely been on among magazines like People and OK! for rights to the exclusive first photos of the famous couple’s child. Now that the baby girl has officially arrived, we thought we’d check in with a New York publishing figure who used to be in the thick of such cutthroat competition for the photo scoop.

“There’s a good chance the baby pictures will not be sold,” Bonnie Fuller, editor-in-chief of hollywoodlife.com, tells FishbowlNY. “Since Kanye has been very vocal about his baby being kept private.”

Fuller suggests three likely scenarios through which the couple may choose to bypass a paid magazine exclusive and possible donation of proceeds to charity. One would be to follow the Tumblr lead of Jay-Z and Beyonce; another would involve setting up a cover story in a prestige magazine like Vanity Fair or Vogue, tying in a photographer of the couple’s choice. The third possibility connects to Monday July 15.

Cover Battle: GQ or Time

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s Cover Battle. This round pits GQ against Time. GQ, for its “Sexiest Women of The 21st Century” feature, put Beyonce on its cover. There is probably nothing we can say about this photograph that won’t sound 100 percent pervy, but here’s what we came up with: Are those pockets on her shorts? Hmm… Still seems pervy.

Matt Donnelly Exits LAT’s Ministry of Gossip

The beat will remain pretty much the same for entertainment journalist Matt Donnelly. But the Web traffic will be much larger, the reader comments harsher and there will now be, with any story, the walk-down-the-hall option of a synergistic TV appearance.
