Daily News Veteran Bob Kappstatter Hired by News Corp. Papers

Bob Kappstatter, a veteran of The New York Daily News who was laid off in November, has found a home at The Bronx Times/Bronx Times-Reporter, the weekly papers covering the borough. The New York Post reports that Kappstatter will be its new Editor-in-Chief.

The Bronx Times/Bronx Times-Reporter are owned by Community Newspaper Group, which was purchased by News Corp. in 2006.

Kappstatter had been with the Daily News for 43 years when he departed the paper, most recently as Deputy Police Bureau Chief.

Layoffs Come to The Daily News

We have more Daily News action before the weekend begins. Capital New York reports that layoffs have hit the paper, leaving “a handful” of staffers and photographers without jobs. While Jennifer Mauer, the Daily News’ Spokesperson, declined to comment, things are obviously still very unsettled at the company.
