A Travis Bickle Contact Sheet

There are several reasons why the portion of Hollywood Frame by Frame dedicated to Martin Scorcese‘s 1976 drama Taxi Driver jumps out.

1) The featured contact sheet is the work of famed photog Steve Schapiro.

2) The 34 thumbnails abut Robert De Niro’s famous “You talkin’ to me?” speech which, as the New York Daily News was the first to reveal a few years ago, was inspired by some Bruce Springsteen concert patter.

Eminem Raps About Social Media

Rapper-reporter Sway Calloway has known Eminem since the 1990s, a fact that helped lend an extra layer of comfort to the pair’s Sirius XM Town Hall chat. The conversation premiered Tuesday on the Shade 45 channel and will repeat through the week and into the weekend.

At one point, Calloway asked Eminem how – just like the rest of us – he deals with Twitter heckling. The rapper’s answer:

“I really try not to pay attention. Put it this way, I want to keep my finger on the pulse of what’s going on, so I don’t want to be ignorant in that sense. But at the same time, I can’t pay attention to what everyone is saying.”

Cover Battle: GQ or Time

Welcome back to another edition of FishbowlNY’s Cover Battle. This round pits GQ against Time. GQ, for its “Sexiest Women of The 21st Century” feature, put Beyonce on its cover. There is probably nothing we can say about this photograph that won’t sound 100 percent pervy, but here’s what we came up with: Are those pockets on her shorts? Hmm… Still seems pervy.

Famed Rock DJs Carol Miller and Dennis Elsas Remember Legendary E Street Member Clarence Clemons

Legendary saxophonist Clarence Clemons who traveled with the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band for decades, died Saturday following complications of a stroke the week before. He was 69.

He was so much more than a part of the band.  The “Big Man” could be considered a sidekick to “The Boss.”

Carol Miller, the legendary Classic Rock jock, who does the night shift on Q 104.3 (WAXQ), saw the Clemons/Springsteen partnership blossom, as Bruce’s first album hit the shelves in 1973.

Miller was still working at Philadelphia’s WMMR when the future of Rock was on display.

“Bruce came on first, alone in those early shows, and did ‘Does the Bus Stop…’ Then, he would bring out the band,” Miller recalls. “When Clarence started playing, to be completely honest yet corny, he literally blew everyone away.”

Yahoo Makes Deal with Sony BMG

sony-bmg.jpg

Yahoo’s made a deal with Sony BMG so consumers can add music and video content from the label and its artists to their home-made creations.

The deal expands the catalog of music videos on Yahoo Music from Sony BMG, whose artists include Alicia Keys, Daughtry, Bruce Springsteen and Jennifer Lopez. It also allows the distribution of videos through a media player that users can access on other Yahoo properties and embed on third-party sites.

Steven Bryant explains why this is no deterrent to pirates.

We think anyone who wants to add Dancing in the Dark to their wedding video is welcome to do so.
