It will be Bermudez’s first child, while Kerney has an 18-month-old.

The Couch‘s third member John Elliott hosted a video montage asking for advice from WCBS working moms, including Mary Calvi and Cindy Hsu.

The segment concluded with an emotional moment as sisters of the expectant mothers phoned in.

The good news could not have come at a more opportune time for the station. Last month, morning anchor Rob Morrison was forced to resign after allegedly assaulting his wife, CBS MoneyWatch anchor Ashley Morrison.

WPIX/Channel 11 renews its ball dropping tradition with a marathon of The Honeymooners starting at 11 p.m. New Year’s Eve. The Jackie Gleason touchstone comedy began on WPIX in 1976, and has been part of the December 31/January 1 programming since 1996. WPIX airs 26 classic episodes featuring the exploits of Ralph Kramden, his bosom buddy Ed Norton, and their wives Alice and Trixie. Channel 11 halts the marathon at 4 a.m. for the PIX Morning News. Following the respite, The Honeymooners is back in action from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

But wait, there’s more.

WLNY/TV 10 55 is set with another New York staple, The Odd Couple. The 38 episodes chronicling the struggles between roommates, neat freak Felix Unger and sloven sportwriter Oscar Madison.

The marathon, which begins at midnight, runs until 9 p.m. It takes on a bittersweet tone, as Jack Klugman, a two-time Emmy winner for his portrayal of Madison, died last week at age 90.

Each episode in the marathon is hosted by Carolina Bermudez, John Elliott, and Lisa Kerney of WLNY’s Live From the Couch. The marathon concludes with perhaps the funniest Odd Couple episode from 1972, when Felix and Oscar compete on Password from 1972.

WPIX/Channel 11 resumes the famed fireplace with the Christmas soundtrack. WPIX first aired Yule Log in 1966. The 2012 edition will be shown on December 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Not to be outdone, WLNY/TV 10 55 is offering its own version of Yule Log Christmas Eve.

WLNY will bring the updated look to the holiday standard with John Elliott, Carolina Bermudez, and Lisa Kerney, hosts of Live from the Couch, and WLNY News at 9 anchors Chris Wragge and Dana Tyler.  The WLNY talent will be flanked by Jim Douglas and Kim Berk, the Fresh 102.7/WWFS morning team.

WLNY’s Yule Log will be accompanied by a simulcast of music on Fresh.

It airs December 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., then after the news it returns from 10 p.m. until midnight. Viewers can get another helping of ‘LNY’s Yule Log from 7 to 9 Christmas morning.

Elvis Duran

Bethany Watson is joining Duran’s Z100-based, nationally syndicated morning show. Watson fills the slot vacated by Carolina Bermudez, who left for WLNY’s The Couch at the end of June.

Watson comes to New York by way of Minneapolis. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, where she studied theater and improvisational comedy, Watson was working at a desk job. She decided to to contact her favorite radio show. Expediting her career path, she applied for the co-host position on The Dave Ryan in the Morning Show at KDWB. She remained with the broadcast for more than four years.

“After an exhausting worldwide search, we found her! Bethany brings lots of baggage, but the kind of baggage that makes for a fun, playful and thoughtful co-host,” Duran says. “We can’t wait to introduce her to our listeners Monday morning.”

A confluence of events created a trio of local morning changes.

The biggest is at independent station WLNY 10/55, now under the auspices of WCBS, which makes its first foray into daytime news.

Live from the Couch brings WCBS morning weathercaster John Elliott and sports anchor Lisa Kerney to the sofa with TV newcomer Carolina Bermudez.

The program is a mix of news, lifestyle and entertainment features. However, the accent is definitely on the lighter fare. There is the typical news and weather update on the half-hour.

Despite he fact that Bermudez comes to WLNY from her time as news reader on WHTZ/Z100, every aspect of the show is shared. Although Elliott goes to his other “day job” with the forecast.

Carolina Bermudez, a veteran of the show since January 2005, announced today she’s leaving the high-profile gig at the end of June for a future in television.

She arrived at Z100 after a stint at Y100 in Miami.

As part of the job posting for Bermudez’s replacement, Clear Channel seeks candidates who are ”fun, outgoing, be willing to expose their lives on air and be a legitimate team player.”

The ad also wants people very familiar with pop culture.
