Ellen Carucci Named Publisher of Organic Gardening

Ellen Carucci has been named publisher of Organic Gardening. Carucci comes to the magazine from Modern Farmer, where she served as launch publisher. She was previously associate publisher at Vogue and advertising director at GQ.

“As an extremely well-respected thought leader in the publishing world, Ellen will bring a new perspective and approach to the robust organic genre,” said Chris Lambiase, senior VP, group publisher, in a statement. “We have a fresh opportunity to show the media community that the time has come to not just aspire to an organic lifestyle, but to live it every day.”

Carucci’s appointment is effective immediately.

Lori Burgess Leaves The Hollywood Reporter for Prevention [Updated]

Lori Burgess has left her position as Publisher of The Hollywood Reporter to become Publisher of Prevention. Burgess had been with THR since the summer of 2010. Prior to that she was Publisher of OK! magazine.

“Lori is a seasoned sales and marketing leader with an outstanding record of achievement across multiple platforms,” said Chris Lambiase, Rodale’s Senior  Vice President, Publishing Director. “She is an expert in knowing and understanding the advertising landscape, and she will help steer the brand to better connect with both clients and customers.”

Burgess begins her new position immediately and reports to Lambiase.

Organic Gardening Gets New Publisher

Organic Gardening has promoted Jeff Tkach from Associate Publisher to Publisher. Tkach has been with Rodale since 2001, most recently serving as Organic Gardening’s Associtate Publisher, starting in 2009. Tkach reports to Chris Lambiase, Senior Vice President, Group Publishing Director.

“A powerful advocate for a healthy, active lifestyle, Jeff embodies the spirit we value at Rodale, and he uses this passion to cultivate true partnerships with advertisers,” said Lambiase. “Thanks to his keen eye for brand development, Jeff is supporting more than the bottom line; he is crafting a new breed of magazine that engages ad partners and their audiences beyond the printed pages.”

Tkach’s appointment is effective immediately.

Rodale Splits Into Three New Groups

Maria Rodale, the CEO of Rodale Inc., has made some big changes at the publishing house. Adweek reports that the company is now split into three groups: Healthy Living, Active Living and Digital/Brand Development.

The Healthy Living Group includes Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention and Organic Gardening. It will be overseen by David Zinczenko, who now holds the title of Excutive Vice President, General Manager. Active Living, which includes Runner’s WorldBicycling, and Running Times, will be overseen by David Willey, who is now a Senior Vice President, General Manager. The third group, Digital/Brand Development, doesn’t have a General Manager in place yet.

As with any major changes, someone will be displaced. Mary Murcko is leaving Rodale, and she will be replaced by Chris Lambiase, who has been promoted to Publishing Director.

Rodale Promotes Chris Lambiase And Eric Johnson

Two new promotions at Rodale to announce today: Chris Lambiase has been promoted to SVP, publishing director and Eric Johnson to VP, group marketing director.

Lambiase will now oversee Rodale’s sports marketing and events groups as well as continuing to lead print and  digital advertising sales and marketing across the company’s sports-related titles. Lambiase has been with Rodale since 2004, when he started out as the publisher for Bicycling.

Johnson will be in charge of the creation of advertising and marketing platforms across Rodale’s many brands. Johnson has been with the company since 2006, when he joined as Women’s Health‘s executive director, creative services and marketing.
