Allrecipes Magazine Launches

Allrecipes magazine has arrived. The print version of Meredith’s popular Allrecipes.com will be published six times a year, with a rate base of 500,000. It’ll run you $4.99 for a single copy, or you can purchase a year subscription for $12.

Allrecipes is led by Christine Guilfoyle (VP/group publisher) and Cheryl Brown (editor-in-chief). Here’s how Brown described the premier issue:

We wanted to capture the voices and personalities of everyday cooks who have always fueled the enormous popularity of Allrecipes.com. Their perspectives and twists to recipes and insights and passion for creative ways to enhance meals – combined with eye-catching visual imagery – are the special ingredients that make Allrecipes so appealing.

Sound good? Why not pick up a copy? Or better yet, buy a subscription.

Please note that subscribing to Allrecipes doesn’t guarantee that you’ll suddenly become a competent cook. If mac n’ cheese is a struggle, it might be time to get a new hobby.

Meredith Makes Four Big Promotions

Meredith Corporation has made a few fairly big promotions today. Below are the details.

  • Christine Guilfoyle has been promoted to VP/group publisher, overseeing Allrecipes, Every Day with Rachael Ray, and EatingWell. She reports to Tom Witschi, the executive VP/president of Meredith Women’s Lifestyle Group.
  • Linda Fears has tacked VP onto her role as editor-in-chief of Family Circle. Fears has been the editor of the magazine for the past eight years. Fears will also continue as editorial director of Meredith’s Food Content Center of Excellence. Fears continues to report to Jim Carr, executive VP and President of Family Circle.
  • Cheryl Brown has been named editor-in-chief of Allrecipes magazine. Brown most recently served as editorial director of Recipe.com. Brown will report to Fears.
  • Britta Cleveland has been promoted to senior VP, research solutions. Cleveland has been with Meredith in 2004, most recently serving as VP, research solutions. She continues to report to Nancy Weber, executive VP/CMO.

Meredith to Launch Allrecipes Magazine

Meredith Corporation is bringing Allrecipes.com to print. Starting this November — just in time for the annual Stuff Your Face season — Allrecipes magazine will be published six times per year, with a starting rate base of 500,000.

The publishing house decided to launch the glossy after some positive feedback from subscribers to other Meredith titles, who received copies of Allrecipes test issues this past spring.

Christine Guilfoyle will serve as VP/group publisher (and publisher of Every Day with Rachael Ray) and Cheryl Brown will serve as editor-in-chief of Allrecipes, which we imagine will feature a lot of recipes.

Meredith Promotes Two, Names New EatingWell Publisher

Meredith Corporation has made two promotions and named Stephen Bohlinger publisher of EatingWell. Bohlinger comes to Meredith from Hearst, where he most recently served as associate publisher of Food Network Magazine. He succeeds Tony Catalano, who has been promoted to publisher of Meredith’s Special Interest Media. Catalano will now oversee a variety of titles, such as Diabetic Living, Kitchen and Bath Ideas, and Country Gardens.

Additionally, Christine Guilfoyle has been promoted from publisher of Every Day with Rachael Ray to group publisher, where she will now also oversee both EatingWell and Every Day with Rachael Ray.

Bohlinger will report to Guilfoyle and Catalano will report to Steve Levinson, vice president, group publisher, home solutions.

Meredith Completes Acquisition of Every Day With Rachael Ray

Meredith Corporation and Reader’s Digest Association have completed the agreement for Meredith to acquire Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine and its related digital assets.  In addition, Meredith announced it has finalized a 10-year licensing agreement with Watch Entertainment Inc. for the award-winning brand.

The acquisition includes the popular magazine that’s published 10 times annually with a 7.4 million audience.  The first issue of Every Day with Rachael Ray published under the Meredith banner will be February 2012, available on newsstands in early January.

“We are energized to bring the Every Day with Rachael Ray brand to market as part of the Meredith portfolio,” said Meredith National Media Group President Tom Harty.  “It represents a very important piece of the strategy we are executing to significantly enhance our already powerful reach in the food space.”
