After ten years on the east coast with Miramax and Cinetic Media, Christopher Horton (pictured) is relocating to Los Angeles to work as Associate Director of Filmmaker Services for the Sundance Institute. Among the University of Colorado at Boulder grad’s responsibilities will be the coordination of a new three-year partnership between the Sundance Institute and Kickstarter.com unveiled earlier this week at the Sundance Film Festival.
Under Horton’s leadership, Kickstarter will provide branding and marketing support to Sundance Institute alumni. Later this spring, the Institute will start curating projects at Kickstarter.com and cross-promoting the initiative on its website Sundance.org. Per the press release:
In the coming months, Sundance Institute will build an online hub of resources related to independent distribution options, funding strategies and other key issues. The goal is to provide for filmmakers a central location to explore case studies and best practices, in addition to live workshops and training opportunities with Institute staff, alumni, industry.
