Livingly Media Relaunches Lonny.com

In 1879, a certain Brooklyn brownstone was completed in what is known as the Clinton Hill neighborhood. Today, an article about the refurbishment of that brownstone (pictured, below) is part of a clean, crisp new-look version of home-design portal lonny.com. The complete overhaul of this five-year-old brand went live at noon ET today.

“We no longer felt the need to constrain our design to mimic the shape of a print magazine,” Livingly VP of content John Newlin tells FishbowlNY via email. “Several years ago, the idea of a magazine ‘replica’ helped us communicate our mission to readers and sell advertisements to clients and partners. But now, we’re seeing 35% of Lonny readers coming to the site on mobile devices (tablets or Smartphones), and that number is growing.”

Harry Morton Kind of Regrets Pink Taco Restaurant Name

The November/December issue of Haute Living Los Angeles magazine has Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber on the cover, looking resplendent against blue-sky Malibu backdrop. To go along with that cover story, there’s also a fun interview by Laura Schreffler with Harry Morton, the 31-year-old son of Hard Rock Hotel and Cafe founder Peter Morton.

Morton lives above the Sunset Strip and his twin properties, The Viper Room and Pink Taco Mexican restaurant. He says he’s shopping a documentary series about the former to pay cable networks and admits that in hindsight, he might have done things a little differently with the latter:

“If I could go back, I would change the name,” Harry muses now of his haute Mexican eatery [chain]. “It started off as a funny idea; it was a joke at the time. But now we pride ourselves on our ability to evolve, and the food speaks for itself.”

Cindy Crawford is Now a Vlogger

First off, the name of this particular sheknows.com corner is somewhat hilarious – Mommalogues. It’s a place “where moms come to raise their voices,” and continuing with the celeb factor that started with Candace Cameron Bure in January and Mayim Bialik in March, the site has added this month the great get of Cindy Crawford.

Each celebrity guest blogger is paired with a top-line commercial sponsor. So far, Crawford, the dazzling working mom of two and wife of Rande Gerber, has posted a pair of videos about the greatest compliment she has received from her offspring and how she tends to connect with other parents.

Sheknows.com allows readers to quickly rate videos like the ones Crawford is posting with the choice of LOL!, OMG!, BAM! and WTF! At press time, BAM! is the click of choice for both Crawford entries.

It’s taken us this long to work our way through all the sparkly cosmetics we were gifted by event sponsor The Body Shop after Wednesday evening’s “The Makeup Mixer,” a mediabistro.com gathering for beauty and health editors and bloggers. Ably hosted by mb contributor Greg Lindsay (himself a fashion media refugee, having worked for WWD among other style-centric outlets), the party featured a demonstration by makeup artist to the stars Chase Aston, international make-up artist and spokesperson for The Body Shop, who’s worked with the company for more than a decade.
