New York Times Magazine Seeks to Reassure Donald Trump

ShutterstockDonaldTrumpMay2014On Twitter, @realDonaldTrump has a following that is 25 times larger than that of @NYTmag. So in one sense, Trump has fully earned the right to take the latter to task.

The only problem is that in this handwritten-note case, as playfully relayed by magazine editor Willy Staley, the reason there was “not one mention” of The Celebrity Apprentice in the magazine’s September 28 profile of political candidate Clay Aiken is that the article was edited for space. Per Staley:

Given his Manichaean view of the matter, we would be remiss if we didn’t reassure Trump that Aiken spoke highly of both Trump and his time on The Apprentice. Aiken even said that “some of the gumption that one needs for a campaign I probably learned from doing his show.”

Clay Aiken Works the New York Room

ClayAikenCampaignLogoAmerican Idol alum Clay Aiken is currently trailing North Carolina 2nd District Congressional opponent Renee Ellmers in an area that matters most: money available to burn.

Per Vocativ’s Mike Spies, a campaign fundraiser was held Monday at the Manhattan home of banker Donald Dye. The best part of Spies’ write-up are the various strands of seen-and-heard:

The guests are uniformly attractive and svelte, almost a parody of chic. I step out onto a porch and encounter Guto Bittencourt, a young Brazilian opera singer wearing thick-framed glasses, a skinny tie and a gray blazer. He’s talking to a blond woman who looks like Ivanka Trump.

“We were at this castle last week,” Bittencourt says. “It was amazing.”

American Idol ReCap-A-Rama

American Idol Logo.jpg

FBLA made a New Year’s resolution to get more in touch with pop culture in 2007 (we like an achievable goal–our reach exceeds our grasp by about three feet) and thus, are not only TiVoing American Idol, we’re selecting the more extra-special recaps for you guys.(And recappers: post should be shorter than actual show.)

LAist They sound like rejects from KBIG or KOST 103.5.

The Evil Beet: Paula seems sober, Ryan Seacrest needs to decide if he’s gay or straight, Sanjaya’s most likely to go home.

TWOP: Chris’s backtalk threw Simon off for a few moments. Which is scary as hell.

Babelogs:
Rudy Cardenas looked like a Mexican Clay Aiken.

BlogCritics: Why haven’t these contestants learned that unless you ARE Whitney, Mariah, Celine, or Stevie, do not sing their music.

TVGasm: Phil Stacey: Penis Head or Alien Head?

FBLA 20 Questions: GirlsTalkinSmack.com

kim.gifFBLA talks to the dishiest girls of online celebrity dish: GirlsTalkinSmack.com’s Kim (pictured. kinda) and Tiff, who inform us that even though they don’t get their own hands inky for the news, papers aren’t dead; satellite radio isn’t all that and Josh Holloway, apparently, both maxes and relaxes.

1. What newspapers do you read?

Kim: Newspapers? I honestly don’t really read anything made of paper, it’s SO 1999 (joking, of course). Well, I read my local newspaper (which is the Bakersfield Californian) once in a while. And I love mags like Allure, Elle, Vogue and Lucky.

Tiff: I actually read the New York Times online, and go through MSNBC’s headlines, other than that, I don’t read actual papers. I prefer television news and gossip blogs.

2. Which ones do you move your lips to while reading?

Kim: All of the above.

Tiff: I don’t really move my lips while I read, I think I read too fast for that.

3. Which Web sites (other than FBLA, of course) are on your favorites bookmark?

Kim: Well, my laptop got wiped out a virus a few weeks ago so I’m still in the progress of getting things back to normal. I’m always reading PoponthePop.blogspot.com , TabloidWhore.blogspot.com and PopBytes.com. They’re the real cream of the crop if you ask me; they stand out more as online magazines than blogs. Also fashion related sites like StyleBites.blogspot.com, Nitrolicious.com and MyFashionLife.com. Other than that I’m hanging out at IdolForums.com or TheFashionSpot.com, or working on my own sites because I have, like, a million of them, ya know?

Tiff: I always end up at Pink is the New Blog Livejournal, and MySpace every day.
