The Land of the Lost Panel

comiccon01.gif On the panel was director Brad Silberling, cast members Anna Friel, Jorma Taccone, Danny McBride and producers Sid Kroft and Marty Kroft.

“Is H.R. Pufnstuf next?” Asked a fan from the crowd.

“Looks like it,” said Marty Kroft, his brother Sid nodded. They both noted the coverage in Column One in the LAT by Geoff Boucher.

Will Ferrel made a cameo via pre-recorded video that was said to be a live feed with severe technical difficulties.

Then we were shown a 30-second promo for the movie. It was basically Ferrell looking at the camera while a huge T-Rex is approaching. “Oh no, he’s right behind me isn’t he?” Asks Ferrell.

The film doesn’t look like a remake of a 1970′s kid’s show. It looks like a Will Ferrell movie. Like how Ali had little to do with Muhammad Ali – it was another Will Smith movie.

Land of the Lost looks like Step Brothers with dinosaurs.

Pineapple Express – The Panel

comiccon01.gif The Pineapple Express panel was moderated by producer Judd Apatow. On the panel was director David Gordon Green, writer Evan Goldberg and cast members Amber Heard, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen and James Franco.

“Can we combine a weed movie with a Jerry Bruckheimer action movie?” Was the rhetorical question offered by Apatow.

The crowd was shown some clips of the movie and let in on the fact that a lot of the dialog was improv. Seth Rogen was totally on the whole panel. A fan asked about the script to the movie being leaked early on the internet.

“If you want to read it – you’re an idiot. Because you can watch it – its a movie.” Said Rogen.

The thing that struck us was that the panel was very much like all Apatow movies: Seth Rogen was funny, he talked about his balls a lot and the gorgeous blond female stock character was a one dimensional prop. There’s your synopsis.
