Bonnier Names Elizabeth Burnham Murphy CMO

Elizabeth Burnham Murphy GElizabeth Burnham Murphy has been named chief marketing officer of Bonnier Corporation. She most recently served as CMO of Bonnier’s Men’s Group, which includes Popular Science, Popular Photography, Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and American Photo.

“As integrated marketing and client-based solutions continue to grow for media companies like Bonnier, Elizabeth’s promotion is our effort to further our ambitions as a progressive media company,” said Bonnier’s executive VP Eric Zinczenko, in a statement. “It’s a natural extension of the corporate-level work she is already doing, including the launch of our new custom solutions group.”

Burnham Murphy has been with Bonnier since 2005.

Andrew Leisner to Oversee Bonnier Motorcycle Brands

Bonnier just bought a bunch of motorcycle brands, so now it needs someone to oversee them all. Andrew Leisner is their man. Leisner, most recently the publisher of Cycle World, has been promoted to vice president, group publisher of the new Bonnier Motorcycle Group.

In his new role, Leisner will be responsible for Cycle World, Motorcyclist, Sport Rider, Dirt Rider, Motorcycle Cruiser, Hot Bike, Baggers, Super Streetbike, Street Chopper and ATV Rider.

“Andy is an energetic and inspirational leader who empowers his people — all qualities that make him the perfect choice to lead our new group,” said Eric Zinczenko, Bonnier’s executive VP, in a statement. “His passion for motorcycles, his knowledge of the market, his competitiveness and his ‘need to win’ are the perfect formula for leading this important business unit for Bonnier Corp.”

Bonnier Names CMO for Men’s Group

Bonnier Corporation has named Elizabeth Burnham Murphy the chief marketing officer for its Men’s Group, a new role at the company. She was most recently associate publisher of marketing and online services for the company’s Outdoor Group.

As CMO of the Men’s Group, Burnham Murphy will now oversee Popular ScienceField & StreamOutdoor LifePopular PhotographyAmerican PhotoCycle World and SHOT Business.

“Liz is constantly driving toward the ethic of constant improvement for our brands and our businesses,” said Bonnier’s executive vice president, Eric Zinczenko, in a statement. “Under her leadership, we will ensure our marketing efforts across the group are operating to the highest standard.”

Gregory Gatto Promoted to Publisher of Bonnier Outdoor Brands

The moves at the top of Bonnier Corporation continue. When Dave Freygang was named CEO, he quickly tapped Eric Zinczenko to oversee all the company’s magazine brands. Now Zinczenko has made his first move: He has promoted Gregory Gatto to publisher of Field & StreamOutdoor Life and Shot Business. Gatto was most recently advertising director for the brands.

“Greg has a strong understanding of what is happening in media today and how best to integrate new media, which is exactly what is best for these brands now,” said Zinczenko, in a statement. “Add the fact that he is a true outdoorsman, he’s been responsible for the strong revenue growth of these titles and he has an outstanding reputation within this community.”

“There has never been a more exciting time to be the publisher of these iconic titles,” added Gatto.

Dave Freygang, who just became Bonnier’s new CEO, has made his first big move. Eric Zinczenko has been promoted to executive vice president of Bonnier Corporation. Zinczenko was most recently executive vice president of Bonnier Men’s Group, which included brands such as Popular Science and Field & Stream.

Zinczenko is now Freygang’s right hand man, and in this new role at the company he will be responsible for every single magazine brand.

Since 2006, every Bonnier brand Eric has had the opportunity to work on has improved,” said Freygang, in a statement. “Now I am looking forward to having him help our group publishers and business leaders in expanding their businesses and achieve the results we can expect with his vision and leadership.”

Bonnier Promotes Anthony Licata to Editorial Director of Men’s Group

The Bonnier Corporation has promoted Anthony Licata from editorial director of outdoor brands to editorial director of the company’s Men’s Group. Licata will now oversee Popular Science, Field & StreamCycle World, Outdoor LIfe, Popular Photography, SHOT Business and American Photo.

“Anthony’s integrity and commitment to constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new ideas make him the ideal editorial advocate for our brands,” said Eric Zinczenko, executive vice president of Bonnier Men’s Group. “He is an expert at creating and packaging best-in-class content that resonates with audience — resulting in a string of successes. I’m thrilled that all of our high-profile men’s media brands will now benefit from his strategic thinking and creative vision.”

Licata’s appointment is effective immediately.

Zinczenko has been with Bonnier since 2006, most recently as vice president/group publisher, overseeing the outdoor titles.

Bonnier Acquires Cycle World from Hearst

Bonnier Corporation has acquired Cycle World, the monthly motorcycle enthusiast publication, from Hearst. Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the magazine’s team will remain intact.

Mark Hoyer is the Editor-in-Chief of Cycle World, and his magazine will now be in Bonnier’s Outdoor Group, under Vice President and Group Publisher Eric Zinczenko.

“Adding another leading men’s vertical to our portfolio of enthusiast brands presents larger opportunities for our strategic partners as we share many of the same advertisers,” said Zinczenko. “This acquisition reinforces Bonnier’s pursuit of aggregating the largest men’s audience in media, and most important, its unwavering commitment to producing the highest quality content possible.”

Cycle World has a circulation of 235,000.
