It’s Official: Mike Hopkins Named CEO of Hulu (Variety)
Hulu has announced Fox Networks distribution chief Mike Hopkins as CEO of Hulu. Plans for the transition leaked out last week, in addition to the news that interim CEO Andy Forssell would be leaving the company. He has a strong understanding of programming, digital distribution and consumer behavior, and a great vision for Hulu’s next chapter,” Anne Sweeney, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC Television Group, said in a statement.LA Times / Company Town In assuming the helm of Hulu, Hopkins brings more than two decades of experience in the traditional television world and in negotiating distribution agreements. The Real Story With Gretchen Carlson to Debut at 2 P.M. on Fox News Sept. 30 (TVNewser)
Fox News has confirmed that former Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson will be taking over the 2 p.m. hour on the network starting Monday. The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson will be preceded by America’s News HQ, co-anchored by Bill Hemmer and Alisyn Camerota. Elisabeth Hasselbeck Ditching The View for Fox & Friends (NY Post / Page Six)
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving The View and joining Fox News’ morning show Fox & Friends as a co-host, Page Six has exclusively confirmed. After much speculation, conservative co-host Hasselbeck is following Barbara Walters and Joy Behar out of the ABC daytime talk show. She will join Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on the Fox couch in mid-September. TVNewser Gretchen Carlson will move to a later, one-hour show, made possible by last week’s news that Megyn Kelly would be moving to primetime. “I have been a long-time fan of Fox & Friends and am excited to be joining their team as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home,” Hasselbeck said in a statement. TheWrap Walters said that the soon-to-be-former coworkers of Hasselbeck — who first gained notoriety on the reality competition show Survivor — “wish her everything good.” HuffPost Hasselbeck, who has been the house conservative on The View for years, will move to a program whose political views coincide perfectly with her own — and whose less-than-highbrow approach to the news dovetails with her daytime experience. Moreover, she is a tested name and will bring her own version of star power to the show, and to the wider network. THR / The Live Feed Jenny McCarthy is in serious talks to join The View as a regular panelist when the show begins its 17th season this fall, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter. McCarthy, who last May finished a run fronting her own talk show on VH1, does not have a deal yet, but talks are ongoing.

Will Carrie Prejean Actually End Up Co-Hosting Fox and Friends?

crowned.jpg
Our sister site TVNewser writes:

Fox News insiders tell TVNewser Carrie Prejean is having second thoughts about co-hosting Fox & Friends next Wednesday. “Prejean’s people emailed Friday night calling off the deal,” the insider tells us.

Prejean, the reigning Miss California who’s been in the headlines for her stand on gay marriage, is scheduled to fill in for vacationing Gretchen Carlson on Wednesday, May 27.

We hear negotiations continued through the weekend to try and salvage the booking. A Fox News spokesperson tells TVNewser Prejean is “absolutely still hosting.”

Stay tuned.

We want to make some kind of wind joke. Maybe a double meaning one implying that Fox and Friends is also a gust of vacuous air.

You know where we’re going with this…
