Gwyneth Paltrow Isn’t Scared of Martha Stewart

Gwyneth Paltrow is never scared. When US Weekly asked the 42-year-old actress what she thought about Martha Stewart telling her to “be quiet,” Paltrow sarcastically replied, ”No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I’m shocked and devastated. I’ll try to recover.” You hear that Stewart? That’s big fat “whatevs.”

Paltrow is also not worried that her hiring former MSLO CEO Lisa Gersh would anger Stewart even more. In fact, she’s giddy about the hate.

“If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition,” she said. “I’m so psyched. I really am.”

Is there anything more ridiculous than two privileged, obscenely rich people feuding? No, there is not. Especially when they’re basically carbon copies of each other, like Paltrow and Stewart.

Turner to Cut 10 Percent of Workforce (TVNewser)
As part of Turner 2020, the cost-cutting and reorganization plan announced earlier this year, the parent company of CNN, HLN, TBS and others has announced it plans to cut 1,475 jobs. CNNMoney Turner Broadcasting, a unit of Time Warner Inc., will cut its total workforce by about 10 percent in the coming weeks through a mix of buyouts, layoffs and other measures, the company said Monday. Capital New York The headcount reduction will include buyouts of staff over the age of 55, layoffs and unfilled open roles. Staff that will be laid off will be informed within the next two weeks. That number also takes into consideration the addition of 150 new jobs in “growth areas” at the company. THR The cuts will come at all levels from across the news, entertainment, kids, young adult and sports networks and businesses as well as corporate functions, in 18 Turner locations around the world. About 300 positions will be eliminated within CNN Worldwide, or about 8.5 percent of the roughly 3,500-strong workforce. Gwyneth Takes the Goop Gloves Off

Remember that business last month, via Porter magazine, wherein Martha Stewart opined that Gwyneth Paltrow “just needs to be quiet”? Well, Stewart may soon be exclaiming: “She just needs to stay out of the print magazine business!”

LisaGershLinkedInPer Keith J. Kelly’s report, the hiring by Paltrow of former Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia CEO-president Lisa Gersh (pictured) as Goop CEO could be a prelude to the actress expanding her website brand into that Stewart, Oprah USPS territory:

Gersh, 55, who worked at NBC before MSLO and co-founded Oxygen Media, hinted that part of her job at Goop would be to bring new products to market. But she did not say if any of those new products would be a magazine.

Martha Stewart Wants Gwyneth Paltrow to ‘Be Quiet’

Shutterstock_MarthaStewartMartha Stewart has had it with Gwyneth Paltrow. In an interview with Porter magazine, Stewart sniped that no one can be her except her.

“She just needs to be quiet,” said Stewart. “She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.” Oh daaaaaaammmmmmnnnn.

This isn’t the first time Stewart has taken issue with what she perceives as actresses attempting to be like her. Regarding Blake Lively’s weird-as-hell lifestyle site Preserve, Stewart said “Why would you want to be me if you could be an actress?”

If Stewart willingly attacks Paltrow and Lively, is any female actress safe from her wrath? We highly doubt it.

Gotham Magazine Sitting Pretty with David Muir Interview

Lucky? Genius? Both? That’s one way the question can be posed today about Gotham magazine‘s editorial powers-that-be.

Tomorrow, two days after David Muir was announced as Diane Sawyer‘s successor, the publication’s Summer Issue will arrive at newsstands with a long-lead Muir interview. Sawyer would have been well-timed in this context. But Muir, sub-headlined ‘Ratings Magnet’ and ‘What’s His Next Move?’ That’s out of the editorial-calendar park.

DavidMuirGothamPrintHeadline

For the print version of the article by Gotham regular contributor Patrick Pacheco, there’s a shot of Muir on the ABC rooftop in front of satellite dishes, full page-left, across from the headline/sub-headline pictured above. We assume that any perceived echoes of movie characters essayed by Gwyneth Paltrow and William Hurt are strictly coincidental.

A Crash Course in ‘Conscious Uncoupling’

Thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Goop post about her decision to break up with husband Chris Martin, we along with many others today are educating ourselves about the phrase used to frame the announcement – “conscious uncoupling.” It’s a real, clinical term; via The Guardian, we were led to this clip from Southern California radio show Cutting Edge Consciousness.

There’s lots of great advice in the hour-long conversation above guided by co-host Freeman Michaels. Psychotherapist and author Katherine Woodward Thomas says for example that the first big mistake made by people engaged in “unsconscious” uncoupling is to move from “soul mate to soul hate,” and feed that anger through their network of friends.

App Claims to Scoop Vanity Fair by Publishing Gwyneth Paltrow Affair Allegation

proxyTypically, the “secrets” shared on Whisper — an app that allows uses to share their thoughts anonymously — are from whiny, overly emotional teens confused by the cruel game that is love. However, the app just posted a bombshell: That Gwyneth Paltrow is cheating on her husband Chris Martin with Kevin Yorn, a lawyer.

The note is especially interesting because Graydon Carter, editor of Vanity Fair, recently released a long-winded explanation of why Vanity Fair didn’t follow through with a big Paltrow story that had the actress upset. If you recall, Paltrow didn’t want the piece published, but no one knew exactly why. Carter, in his note, explained that there wasn’t much to the story so he decided to stall (read: Paltrow’s pressure on the magazine worked).

Neetzan Zimmerman, the editor-in-chief of Whisper (we suppose an editor is needed when you’re dealing with millions of tweens) claimed that the app’s Paltrow secret is exactly what kept Vanity Fair from publishing its piece on the actress. Not only that, but the secret was vetted.

Vanity Fair Publishing Story on Gwyneth Paltrow That She Hates

Vanity Fair is going through with a story on Gwyneth Paltrow that she apparently hates. You never knew the magazine was so gangster, did you?

It all started last year, when Paltrow emailed friends telling them not to cooperate with the glossy for a story about her. More recently, when Graydon Carter — Vanity Fair’s editor-in-chief — was asked about the drama, he brushed it off. “In any given week, I can expect to hear from a disgruntled subject in Hollywood, Washington, or on Wall Street,” he explained. “That’s the nature of the beast.”

Why does Paltrow want the article killed? Page Six says it’s because it will speculate that Paltrow had an affair with Miami billionaire Jeff Soffer in 2008. Paltrow has been married to Coldplay’s Chris Martin since 2003.

Whatever the piece reveals, Paltrow’s fuss is one of the main reasons it’s being published. “Well, she sort of forced my hand,” Carter told the Times of London.

Picture Carter rollin.

Celebrities Consider Vanity Fair’s Ass Kissing Not Good Enough Anymore

Actors and actresses — people who are paid millions to read what someone else has written for them while playing pretend — are upset with Vanity Fair. Apparently the magazine’s ass kissing just hasn’t been up to snuff lately, and so some Hollywood big shots are refusing to cooperate on articles.

It started with Gwyneth Paltrow, who was so mad about a planned Vanity Fair article that she emailed friends asking them not to speak with anyone from the magazine. The New York Times reports that her move has led to even more pushback. “Everyone grovels to Graydon [Carter] and other writers there and covets invitations to their parties,” Leslee Dart, a publicist for Tom Hanks and others, told the Times. “I don’t think people care the way they used to anymore. It’s not important to them to grovel as they once did.”
