Scholastic Instructor Names EIC

Scholastic has named Tara Welty editor-in-chief of Instructor magazine. Welty was most recently the editor of Scholastic Art, where she oversaw a re-launch of its print and web versions.

“Tara has extraordinary gifts as an editor and educator. She made a profound contribution to arts education in re-launching Scholastic Art,” said Hugh Roome, president of Scholastic Consumer and Professional Publishing. “She brings to this important new assignment both the vision and skills which will sustain Instructor’sunique role in advising and inspiring K-12 teachers.”

Scholastic Parent & Child Names New Publisher

Jamie Engel has been named Vice President and Publisher of Scholastic Parent & Child magazine. Engel comes to the magazine from Bonnier’s Parenting Group, where he served as Group Associate Publisher.

“Jaime Engel brings vast industry experience and a proven track record to Scholastic Parent & Child magazine. He is the right person to continue the growth trajectory of the magazine in both print and digital formats,” said Hugh Roome, President, Consumer and Professional Publishing.

Engel will report to Roome.

Jeff Wellington Heads to Scholastic Parent & Child as VP, Publisher

Jeff Wellington has been VP and Publisher at Scholastic Parent & Child Magazine.

In this position, Wellington will lead the business and creative direction of the Parent & Child publishing program and will manage the strategic development of the Parent and Child brand.

Wellington will report to Hugh Roome, President, Consumer and Professional Publishing.

“Jeff Wellington has the right experience and a proven track record to continue the phenomenal growth trajectory of Scholastic Parent & Child magazine. We’ve had double-digit growth in each of the last five years and believe that Jeff can guide Scholastic Parent & Child to the next level of success online and in print,” Roome said.

He joins Scholastic from ReadyMade, a Meredith Corporation publication, where he served as Publisher for the past two years. There, he was responsible for the advertising sales, marketing, and brand development for the magazine and all digital applications.
