Hunter Lewis Named Editor of Cooking Light

Time Inc. has named Hunter Lewis editor Cooking Light. Lewis had most recently served as executive editor of Southern Living since 2012. Prior to that, he was food editor of Bon Appétit and kitchen director of Saveur.

“Hunter has rich experience spanning both journalism and the culinary world, as well as a profound skill for translating storytelling to digital, social and event platforms,” said Evelyn Webster, Time Inc.’s executive VP, in a statement. “His vision, talent and passion will take Cooking Light and its expanded offerings to the next level.”

Lewis — who starts September 22 — is succeeding Scott Mowbray, who is retiring after 17 years with Time Inc.

Southern Living Names Hunter Lewis Exec Editor

Hunter Lewis has been named executive editor of Southern Living. Lewis comes to the magazine from Bon Appétit, where he most recently served as food editor, since late last year. Prior to his time there, he worked as kitchen director for Saveur for two years.

“Hunter’s talents as a storyteller, food stylist, editor, and cook will help us build on the excitement of today’s Southern food movement,” said M. Lindsay Bierman, editor-in-chief of Southern Living. “There’s also no doubt that his hands-on expertise withrecipe development will make the hundreds of dishes we publish each year taste that much better.”

Lewis will join Southern Living September 10.

Adam Rapoport Builds Bon Appétit Staff

Adam Rapoport, Editor-in-Chief at Bon Appétit since November of last year, has just announced a smorgasbord (sorry) of additions to the magazine’s staff.

Here’s the rundown:

Alex Grossman has been named Design Director, Ms. Alex Pollack will be the magazine’s Photo Editor, Hunter Lewis was tapped to be Food Editor, Scott DeSimon will be the Special Projects Editor, Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton will be writing seasonal columns,  and finally, Jenny Rosenstrach and Andy Ward will contribute family cooking columns.

Congrats to everyone. FishbowlNY suggests a healthy game of “human knot” to help break the ice when everyone meets for the first time. It’s zany because you can’t tell who is attached to who!
