Larry Flynt Sued by His Brother for $20 Million

Jimmy Flynt, the estranged brother of Larry Flynt, is suing the Hustler publisher for $20 million in compensation and damages for wrongful termination and breach of contract.

Jimmy Flynt worked for his brother’s pornography company until 2009, receiving an annual salary of $250,000. According to the lawsuit filed in Cincinnati court, Jimmy Flynt claims he’s responsible for the Hustler retail brand:

Hustler retail was Jimmy’s idea, has been highly profitable and has allowed expansion into many other areas and business areas, including gaming. Jimmy opened the first Hustler store and was the first to use the Hustler mark in commerce, in retail. Jimmy literally built Hustler retail from the ground up.”

Earlier this year, a federal judge ruled Larry Flynt is the sole owner of Hustler and Jimmy Flynt isn’t entitled to half of the business.

Is the Rihanna & J. Cole Sex Tape Just Another Larry Flynt Publicity Stunt?

If so, it seems to be working. News of the tape has been widely reported, from the celebrity blogosphere to the Washington Post. Both Rihanna and J. Cole felt the need to respond to the rumor, which they deny.

True or not, Hustler, a division of Beverly Hills-based Larry Flynt Publications, is getting plenty of free publicity out of the deal. And that’s good for any publishing company. As with mainstream media, the combination of a recession and the proliferation of free online content has hit the porn industry hard. Hustler is no doubt feeling the squeeze, and making headlines certainly couldn’t hurt the bottom line.

And if the tape is real, it’s going to rake in some serious cabbage. Maybe it’s time to ask if Larry Flynt is hiring.

Several Porn Companies Halt Production Due To AIDS Scare

Since news broke Tuesday that a prolific porn actor had tested positive for HIV, several adult entertainment companies have halted production — and several more haven’t. Porn is a multi-million dollar business, and concern for the well being of the performers has always been low. Despite a strong push by health advocates for condom use, few porn shoots actually bother with condoms, the government refuses to mandate such changes, and consumers don’t seem to care. Many porn companies in town continue keep shooting, despite not knowing all the facts surrounding the infection, including who might have been exposed.

The companies that have halted porn production are Vivid Entertainment, Wicked Pictures (which has a policy of mandatory condom use), Hustler Video, Digital Playground, Jennaration X Studios, Girlfriends Films and Kick Ass Pictures. Remember those names next time you’re shopping for porn, and buy from a company that made the expensive but responsible choice to put their performer’s health first.
