New York Daily News Fires Political Editor

Capital New York is reporting that Ian Bishop, the New York Daily News’ managing editor for politics, has been fired. Bishop had been with the paper since 2007. Prior to that he was with The New York Post for one year.

The reason for Bishop’s dismissal (according to newsroom rumors) is that he did not get along with the paper’s editor-in-chief, Colin Myler.

The timing — a month before the Republican and Democratic conventions — has left some at the paper concerned. ”It’s a big loss,” one staffer told Capital New York.
