Elizabeth Chan Cracks the WLTW-FM Christmas Rotation

Every holiday season, New York radio station WLTW (a.k.a. 106.7 Lite FM) tinkers ever so slightly with its rotation of 24/7 Christmas music. If at all.

This season, a new voice is getting airplay alongside the three other artists added for 2014. Joining Band Aid 30, Seth MacFarlane and Idina Menzel is none other than Mediabistro success story Elizabeth Chan, the former Conde Nast employee who we wrote about this time last year.

“Just even learning that WLTW was going to add one of my songs, three years into writing Christmas music but really only two years into starting my company and songwriting business in earnest,” Chan tells FishbowlNY via telephone. “I was floored.”

Meet AP’s New Music Editor

AP Appointment FekaduOne of the signature elements of Associated Press is the clever, wink-wink lede (when and where appropriate). Arianna Huffington, Betty White, and Rosie O’Donnell Celebrate with the Top Women in Media at the Matrix Awards

The 2011 Matrix Awards were held at the Waldorf-Astoria on Monday, and it was a chance to see the top women in media honor the achievements of each other.

The Matrix Awards take a broad look at the media industry, and recipients include women in television, advertising, public relations, and technology. “I didn’t even know I was in the media until today!” said Broadway actress and Matrix award recipient Idina Menzel.

The lifetime achievement award was given, deservedly, to Betty White, who spoke via satellite from Los Angeles. “It’s wonderful to be a role model at 89… it’s wonderful to be anything at 89,” said White with characteristic good humor.

Her advice to other women: keep doing what you are passionate about, said White, “long after people assume you’re dead.”
