Time Inc. Shutters InStyle Weddings

instyle weddings.jpgOn a day when layoffs are hitting across the company, Time Inc. has decided to shutter its InStyle wedding spin-off.

The last issue of InStyle Weddings, a quarterly that launched as a special issue in 2000, will be on newsstands on December 25, a magazine spokesperson told FishbowlNY.

Although the brand’s monthly magazine has had some good news this year, averaging 772,000 copies per month on the newsstand during the third quarter of 2009 along with increases in ad pages under publisher Connie Anne Phillips, the decision to shutter the weddings title reflects on the struggling bridal market. Case in point: earlier this year, Condé Nast shuttered two of its bridal mags and restructured its remaining bridal group.

Sadly, the decision to shutter InStyle Weddings will result in a some layoffs — we hear about nine people — but the brand will continue to publish special issue spin-offs like InStyle Hair in the spring and InStyle Makeovers in the fall.
