Tracking Down That Norm Macdonald-Robin Williams Episode

Across the Internet, fans and reporters continue to rave about the Robin Williams recollection shared on Twitter by comedian Norm Macdonald.

Reddit user ArrestedDevelopments handily combined Macdonald’s sequential Tuesday tweets into a single narrative stream:

It was my first stand-up appearance on Letterman and I had to follow the funniest man in the world. I was a punk kid from rural Ontario and I was in my dressing room, terrified. I was on the phone to a friend back home when the funniest man in the world ambled by. There was no one else on the floor. In shock, I told my friend who just walked by. Only the funniest man in the world. I guess he heard me say his name, cause in an instant he was at my side. He was a Jewish tailor, taking my measurements. He went down on his knees, asked which way I dressed.

I told my friend on the phone that the funniest man in the world was on his knees before me, measuring my inseam. My friend didn’t believe me so I said, “Could you talk to my friend, sir?” The funniest man in the world took the phone and for ten minutes took my friend’s Chinese food order. I laughed and laughed and it was like I was in a dream because no one else was there. No one.

TV Newser: All that’s left with regards to The Donald’s Fox and Friends interview and Twitter response from targeted Sirius/CNN host Michael Smerconish is the appropriate File-Under nomenclature. How about – Trump Misreads?

PR Newser: Opening this year once again for Cinco de Mayo was Quatro de Star Wars. Kudos to Oreo, the Seattle Police Department and many others for channeling some far-away moxy.

The Story Behind Celebuzz’s Great Brad Pitt-Jason Priestley Photo

Yesterday, celebuzz.com editor-in-chief Dylan Howard posted a fantastically fun picture of Brad Pitt and Jason Priestley. It was taken in January 1991, during a small apartment gathering for the Bills-Giants Super Bowl XXV. The photo captures both actors at their pre-superstardom, innocent best.

It’s incredibly refreshing in today’s day and age of celebrity journalism to come across a photo scoop that is neither salacious nor sensational. FishbowlLA liked the picture so much, we asked Howard to tell us more.

“Who even knew Pitt and Priestley were pals? Not me, at least,” he says. “The irony here is that they would go on to become two of the biggest stars of their generation, within just months of this photo being snapped. Priestley with Beverly Hills 90210, which first started rating in the summer of that year and Pitt in Thelma and Louise.”

Howard says he has known the provider of the photo personally for a long time. By sheer coincidence, the day before on Celebuzz, there were some early 1980s photos of Jennifer Aniston. All that was missing this week was a close-up of baby Angelina.

Lunch: Hoda Kotb, Dan Abrams & George Stephanopoulos Brave the St. Pat’s Crowds

The hardcore Michael’s regulars weren’t about to let a little thing like the Saint Patrick’s Day parade get in the way of their power lunch today. After a slow start, the dining room filled up nicely with plenty of media mavens and talking heads. The Today show’s Hoda Kotb was among the first to arrive and looked smashing in her emerald floral sheath by Adrienne Papel. “I’m meeting Dan Abrams, but he’s coming from downtown so I hope he makes it,” said Hoda, having made her way through the few thousand extra people clogging up the sidewalks on the East Side.

With Kathie Lee Gifford on vacation this week, Hoda has been enjoying something of a television time warp with her guest co-hosts. On Monday, she was joined by Beverly Hills 90210‘s resident good guy Jason Priestley, Growing Pains‘s Kirk Cameron came by on Tuesday, and his TV dad Alan Thicke was today’s blast from the past. “Tomorrow, Ralph Macchio from The Karate Kid is coming in and Friday it’s Andrew Shue. I’m having a lot of fun.” Turns out Hoda is something of a sitcom aficionado and can easily reel off her TV favorites from days gone by: “I loved Growing Pains, Who’s The Boss, Rhoda, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” We could have talked about iconic TV hits forever, but luckily Dan did make it uptown and lunch went on as planned.

Here’s the rundown on today’s crowd:

1. This year’s “Kelly Gang” contingent: New York Post‘s media man Keith Kelly with a table full of revelers, including Jim Kelly, Tom Kelly, and Kelly Delaney.

2. George Stephanopoulos and David Anton. I caught George on his way to his table to ask who he thought should take his Sunday morning seat. “I don’t know!” he said with a smile and dashed off before I could get in a follow-up.

3. Margo McNabb Nederlander and another stylish blonde gal we didn’t recognize

4. Hoda Kotb and Dan Abrams
