Business Insider Names First Exec Editor

Joe Weisenthal, Business Insider’s financial blogger, has been named the site’s first executive editor. The New York Times reports that Henry Blodget, BI’s founder and editor-in-chief, will remain in that role.

Blodget tells the Times that naming an exec editor was necessary because “We have grown to the point where we need an executive editor to share the authority and responsibility for the entire site, especially because I often need to focus on other areas of the business.”

Weisenthal will report to Blodget.
