Don Imus, the legendary morning man, has extended his relationship with Cumulus Media through 2015. The I-Man has inked a deal keeping him anchored to the 77 WABC 6 a.m. to 10 a.m shift for another three years. Imus in the Morning is syndicated to all 50 states.

“I am delighted that our listeners and advertisers have the certainty of knowing Don and his amazing team at ‘Imus in the Morning’ will remain on 77 WABC for at least three more years,” said John Dickey, co-chief operating officer at Cumulus. “Don’s a radio legend and is an important part of our team.”

Following a stint in Cleveland, Imus headed to New York’s WNBC in 1971. After being fired by that station in 1977, Imus was back at 660 in 1979. From 1982 to 1985, Imus formed a one-two punch with afternoon personality Howard Stern that led to famous ad campaign with the radio stars,”If we weren’t so bad, we wouldn’t be so good.”

Geraldo Rivera is experiencing a rebirth on radio. The WABC midday host will expand to a national audience later this summer. Rivera’s show will be offered to Cumulus Radio Network affiliates, totaling more than 4,000 stations.

The show, which launched on WABC in January, and subsequently added KABC in Los Angeles.

Following the success of those shows, Geraldo will become a single live national show launching in advance of this summer’s political conventions. The show’s tagline is, “Not Red. Not Blue. But Red, White & Blue.”

“When Geraldo agreed to host shows for Cumulus stations in New York and L.A. we had a hunch there’d be national substantial listener interest in his incisive and insightful style,” John Dickey, co-chief operating officer of Cumulus, says. ”Now we’re thrilled that with Geraldo such a success in those two markets the show will now be available across the country.”

In just a few months on the air, Rivera spearheaded coverage during the early stages of the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman murder case. And his comments about the role apparently played by the young victim’s clothing, his ‘hoodie’, became the basis for an international debate.

Rivera will continue to host his Sunday night show on Fox News Channel, where he’s a frequent contributor weekdays.

The Geraldo radio begins its national run August 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. eastern time.

Matt Pinfield, displaced from on his on-air gig when Emmis sold WRXP to Merlin Media last summer, is back in radio.

Starting the weekend of January 20th, Pinfield hosts Flashback, a new Classic Rock show for Cumulus Media. The program focuses on tracks from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, featuring news footage, and TV and movie clips within the broadcast.

Pinfield’s show will air on 219 Cumulus station nationwide. The show, however, will not be heard in the New York City metro area. The closest Pinfield will get to reaching his New York fans is WRCN-FM in Riverhead and WPDH in Poughkeepsie.

Add radio talk show host to the extensive resume’ of Geraldo Rivera. Cumulus has announced that Rivera is joining 77 WABC as midday host starting on January 3.

Rivera fills the 10 a.m. to noon slot held by Joe Crummey, until being let go last week.

The award-winning journalist will continue his Fox News duties, hosting the Sunday night Geraldo at Large. He’ll remain a frequent contributor to weekday programming throughout the day and during prime time.

The New York Times, which broke the story yesterday, said Rivera recently signed a new four-year deal with Fox.

“This is a lifetime dream come true, hosting a talk radio show in the city where everyone has an opinion on everything,” Rivera said in a statement. “I want this show to provide a marketplace for the unpredictable, and also add some much-needed balance on talk radio during this heated election cycle. My slogan is, ‘I’m Geraldo and I’m not always right.’”
