Cosby Show, Family Ties and Regis Philbin Among Honorees at TV Land Awards in New York

For the first time in its nine-year history, the TV Land Awards pulled up stakes in Los Angeles and headed for New York, bringing a Big Apple feel to the Javits Center last night.

The Cosby Show, set in Brooklyn and taped in New York, was honored with the Impact Award. The cast, including co-creator Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad, reunited.

“It means that not only are we still relevent today…We made some sort of a difference, and some sort of an impact 25 years ago,” Sabrina LeBeauf (above) , who played Sondra on the hit sitcom, tells FishbowlNY.

The Cosby Show, which helped resurrect NBC from 1984 to 1992, had another “impact” on television viewing.

“I don’t see any show on now that impacts people in that way… [that] family show [did],” Geoffrey Owens (who played Elvin) says. “I think it’s fair to say that, unfortunately, that’s a little bit … of the past right now.”

Coming Soon: The New Radar?

Considering the current state of Radaronline.com we’re almost afraid to ask what the future might hold. But looks like we are soon to find out! Tacked on to a “world exclusive” story about the death of John Travolta‘s son Jett was a note announcing that Radar is getting a makeover.

Radar is getting a makeover and soon you’ll see the new-look: filled with the latest breaking news, the details on the stories you care about and features that matter to your day-to-day life.

We’ll bring you the most comprehensive coverage of big entertainment events making Radar your one-stop site for everything you want and need to know. In the meantime, even while we’re under construction and waiting to unveil our new look and content, we’ll still bring you the news no one else can, like our world exclusive interview with the EMT chief who describes in heartbreaking detail what happened when he responded to the Travolta home the day Jett Travolta tragically lost his life.

We’re pretty confident here when we say we doubt that anything on the “new” Radar will “matter to our day-to-day life,” unless(!) by “new” they actually mean “the site we shut down last October.”

Sarah Palin on SNL: The Fallout

Remember how Quentin Tarantino brought John Travolta‘s career back from the dead? That’s sort of how it’s starting feel in terms of SNL and Sarah Palin. To wit: Sarah Palin‘s, albeit rather dull appearance on SNL this weekend resulted in the show’s highest ratings in 14 years. And what of that appearance? Over at HuffPo Alec Baldwin is defending SNL‘s decision to have the Alaskan Governor on (which begs the question, did anyone actually think it was a bad idea?)

Saturday Night Live is a comedy show. It’s not Meet the Press…It attempts, with varying degrees of success, to make people laugh. That’s it. Whether they skewer and savage people in order to do so, they don’t care. When you come on a show like that, you are prepared in advance to get worked over. Palin knew that. Palin came on to be a good sport. And she was. She was polite, gracious. (More so than some of the famous actors who come through there, believe me.)

More to the point, if you haven’t already watched the Sarah Palin rap please go do so, it is hysterical. However! The New Yorker is also weighing in.
