TheWrap is in Full Expansion Mode

AdaGuerinPicTheWrap started in 2009 out of Sharon Waxman‘s guest house. Then came an office in Santa Monica, followed by a bigger space in West Los Angeles and an overflow annex a few minutes away for the sales and marketing team.

This weekend, TheWrap will move for a fourth time, to a consolidated Santa Monica space three times the size of its current headquarters. The company recently hired Jordan Chariton away from our sister blog TVNewser to work as a New York-based media reporter. And today, TheWrap announced that long-time Hollywood Reporter staffer Ada Guerin (pictured) has come aboard as creative director (effective immediately). Guerin was with THR for 14 years.

“There are a couple of other announcements that will be coming down the pike [in addition to Guerin] that will change around stuff,” Waxman tells FishbowlNY via telephone, taking a quick break from writing her next column. “On the editorial end, we’re growing both the movie team and the TV team. [Executive editor] Joseph Kapsch has been a really key person in recruiting and building the newsroom.”

BuzzFeed Poaches Entertainment Reporter Jordan Zakarin From The Hollywood Reporter [Updated]

BuzzFeed has poached Jordan Zakarin from The Hollywood Reporter, where he covered film, television, and — oddly enough — BuzzFeed.

As the newest member of the site’s growing entertainment vertical, the New Jersey native will cover the film, TV and pop culture industry from BuzzFeed’s New York headquarters.

“I’m crazy excited to join the young, ambitious, wildly talented and fun team at BuzzFeed,” Zakarin said in a statement to FishbowlNY. “I plan on learning a lot and contributing all that I can. All of my friends share BuzzFeed posts on Facebook, so I’m hoping they might finally decide to share one of my stories, too.”

At THR, he delved deep inside the world of Joss Whedon fans and asking Chippendales strippers to review “Magic Mike“ to profiling Jessica Chastain.

“We are thrilled to have Jordan Zakarin join BuzzFeed’s entertainment team,” BuzzFeed’s executive editor Doree Shafrir said in a statement to FishbowlNY. “He’s a social media native who will be an essential voice in our New York office and help us continue to cover the industry in new and exciting ways.”

He starts May 3.

In the meantime, THR‘s online editor Chris Krewson is looking to fill the position.

San Diego Columnist Chuckles at Koch-Manchester-Tribune Rumors

We’ve moved from a dollop of salt to a giant pepper grinder. At least that’s the view of Doug Porter, who offers a hilarious quick-take reaction in the San Diego Free Press to the wave of coverage sparked by Hillel Aron’s barn-busting LA Weekly item:

The rumor mills continue unabated, like a distracted waiter with an oversized pepper grinder ruining a Caesar salad at a faux fine dining restaurant. My favorite take of the day on the latest LA Times speculation was in Forbes:

LA Weekly pegs the price of the Tribune newspaper group at about $600 million. By my calculations, that’s a little more than Charles and David pull in dividends from Koch Industries each year — after reinvesting 90% of the profits back in the business. So no question they can swing it. But after a career of successfully investing in businesses that make money, I am not sure Charles Koch wants into this one.”

THR.com Taps Three New Editors

The Hollywood Reporter has added some editing fire power to its website. Per an announcement this morning, Seth Abramovitch has been appointed deputy editor, while Erin Carlson and Jordan Zakarin have joined the publication as staff editors.

Abramovitch once worked alongside Mark Lisanti as an editor of defamer.com. He also helped relaunch movieline.com and has contributed to gawker.com. Carlson comes over to THR.com from AP, where she covered TV, while Zakarin was previously an entertainment editor and reporter with The Huffington Post.

“I’m very happy to welcome Seth, Erin and Jordan,” said editorial director Janice Min. “Their talents and diverse backgrounds in online journalism will be an asset as THR.com continues to expand.”
