The Daily Mail Breaks Some Anna Wintour News

The chance of a headline typo is certainly maximized at The Daily Mail. So kudos to them for no extra “A’s” in extravaganza.

Per the accompanying text by U.S. showbiz editor-at-large Sara Nathan, the turn-down was reportedly amicable:

A source told MailOnline: “Anna politely declined Kim and Kanye’s kind invitation.”

Condé Nast Sued Over Vogue KimYe Cover Shoot Video

Vogue is certainly getting plenty of headlines out of its Kanye West/Kim Kardashian cover. Even if not all of them are positive. The latest news? The magazine is being sued over a song played during the behind-the-scenes video of the shoot.

According to The New York Daily News, Ricky Spicer — an artist who sued West last year for using his voice without permission on West’s song Bound 2 — is now going after Condé Nast.

In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Spicer claimed that his voice is heard five times during the Vogue video, which is playing Bound 2. “Mr. Spicer’s voice is used substantially throughout the video, comprising approximately 44 percent of the vocals,” the filing said.

The lawsuit said that Condé didn’t obtain permission to use Spicer’s voice, so he’s suing for unspecified damages.

At least Condé knows that the KimYe issue is selling well. That might help take the sting out of this lawsuit.

Vogue KimYe Cover Selling Well

The April issue of Vogue — featuring Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in what appeared to be a David’s Bridal ad on the cover — is selling quite well. According to The New York Post, the issue is on pace to sell between 300,000 and 400,000 copies.

While those aren’t record-setting numbers, they’re not bad either. For some context, the March 2013 issue of Vogue, with Beyoncé on the cover, sold 355,000 copies. The April issue, with Michelle Obama gracing the front, sold a little under 300,000.

That’s some good company, especially considering all the hate the cover received from various “celebrities,” who should probably check themselves. We’re looking at you, Sarah Michelle Gellar. When your career peaks with a TV show about teenage vampire hunters who call themselves the “Scooby Gang,” you don’t get to make fun of anybody.

The Kim Kardashian Vogue Cover is Here

Like we said — what Kanye West wants, Kanye West gets. After months of pestering Anna Wintour to put his boo Kim Kardashian on the cover of Vogue, it has finally happened. Of course Kanye being Kanye, he couldn’t resist putting himself on the front too.

Some people might call a reality TV star gracing the cover of Vogue the apocalypse. Others might refer to it as the end of days.

We choose to call this “Oh snap, Kim K one bad bitch.”

Bill O’Reilly: Jay-Z and Kanye West are a ‘Disease’

Bill O’Reilly, the best journalist ever according to Bill O’Reilly, knows why America’s youth is struggling: The dreaded rap music. Speaking to Valerie Jarrett, a senior advisor to President Obama, O’Reilly said that Jay-Z and Kanye West are a “disease” and simply need to “knock it off.”

“You have to attack the fundamental disease if you want to cure it,” said O’Reilly. “You’re gonna have to get people like Jay-Z, Kanye West — all these gangsta rappers — to knock it off.”

Lord knows that everything Jay has made since the Black Album has been trash and West’s Yeezus was awful, but we don’t exactly want them to stop creating music.

Maybe that’s not what O’Reilly meant. The Fox News host was definitely confused, as both Jay and West hardly qualify as “gangsta rappers.” So maybe O’Reilly was just rambling and tossed out the first two black people he could think of to blame for our nation’s problems. Yeah, that’s probably it.

Savannah Guthrie Helps Seth Meyers Prepare for ‘Worst Guests’

The media blitz for Seth Meyers has included a THR cover story, weekend coverage in the New York Times and down-the-hall air time this morning on Today. Tonight, it’s finally time for the affable Weekend Update anchor to show his Studio 8G stuff.

Today co-host Savannah Guthrie wins the award for most practical bit of pre-show conversation. In the clip above, she pretends to be a nightmare Late Night guest so as to help Meyers see how he might deal with a Joaquin Phoenix-Letterman scenario.

Drake is Mad at Rolling Stone [Updated]

Drake — the emotional, sweater rocking rapper who really just talks — is mad at Rolling Stone. In an interview with the magazine, Drake apparently dissed Kanye West’s Yeezus by saying “There were some real questionable bars on there. Like that ‘Swaghili’ line? Come on, man. Fabolous wouldn’t say some shit like that.” While FishbowlNY completely agrees — Yeezus was garbage — Drake is now claiming that he didn’t say that. He’s also mad that Rolling Stone ditched him for a cover featuring Phillip Seymour Hoffman:

Poor Drake. It must be difficult being so intimidated by West that you can’t rightfully criticize his work.

The Canadian born MC wasn’t done after this tweet. He really wanted everyone to know how annoyed he was about losing that cover:

The Kim Kardashian Vogue Cover is (Maybe) Happening

Ask and Ye shall receive. According to Jezebel, “a well-placed source” said Kanye West might finally get to see his girl Kim Kardashian on the cover of Vogue.

West has been begging Anna Wintour to put Kardashian on the cover for months. Wintour, being Wintour, didn’t seem to be interested in the idea. Eventually West escalated things from begging to pestering. Last week he even interrupted Wintour during lunch to protest the idea that Lena Dunham was more deserving of a Vogue shoot than Kardashian.

We didn’t think it could be done, but apparently West has finally wore Wintour down. There is one caveat though. The source merely said Vogue photographers were “in LA shooting her RIGHT NOW.” There’s no mention of Kardashian grabbing the cover.

Despite the lack of a cover specification, you would think at this point Wintour is just going to give it to Kardashian so Wintour can live her life in peace. Until North West gets a little older, that is.

Bret Easton Ellis Kicks Off Podcast with Kanye West

We’ve all read the incendiary Bret Easton Ellis tweets. So it’s somewhat surprising, for anyone not familiar with his voice, to hear how mellow he sounds. Off the top of his new PodcastOne show, Ellis is one part NPR-worthy and another college campus groovy DJ.

Also kind of hilarious is the length of Ellis’ first question. It’s bled from the intro, yes, but it runs a full four minutes as Ellis used a recent interview he did with an Italian film magazine to throw a query over to Kanye.
