Josh Suchon, Joe Block Out as ‘DodgerTalk’ Hosts

Daily News columnist Tom Hoffarth reports there will be changes to the “DodgerTalk” post-game show when the Los Angeles Dodgers move from KABC-AM (790) to KLAC-AM (570).

Management informed Josh Suchon and Joe Block they wouldn’t be returning as co-hosts and they are reportedly being replaced by former manager Kevin Kennedy.

“It was four of the best years of my life,” Suchon told Hoffarth. “I’ll always have special fondness for Ken Levine, Joe Block and all the Dodgers fans who kept us company after every game. But the show needs a new voice to keep it fresh, and I don’t blame 570 for wanting to take the show in a different direction. It’s time for me to embark on a new adventure and find a new challenge.”

Aaron Sorkin Defends His Women

Veteran Hollywood TV writer-director-producer Ken Levine got a nice surprise over the weekend via his personal Blogspot page. On Saturday night, October 9th, The Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin took time to send over a comment in response to another reader’s concerns about the lack of good female roles in the number one movie at the box office for two weekends running.

“Tarazza – believe me, I get it,” Sorkin begins. “It’s not hard to understand how bright women could be appalled by what they saw in the movie but you have to understand that that was the very specific world I was writing about… Mark [Zuckerberg]‘s blogging that we hear in voiceover as he drinks, hacks, creates Facemash and dreams of the kind of party he’s sure he’s missing, came directly from Mark’s blog…”

WGA 07 Strike Week 3: It’s All About Nikki

Second Life avatars are striking, too. Kiwini Oe alerted us to their presence.

Nikki Finke’s got some hot news about a naughty, naughty showrunner, but banned any speculation by commenters. He was ratted out by an assistant which is a strategy that could so easily backfire.

And Finke’s site will host video shorts by bold-faced names such as Paul Haggis, Rod Lurie, William H. Macy and Sean Penn and many more.

ABC is set to run some webisodes of Lost. Was the network saving these for the “deleted scenes” feature of the DVD?

WGA 07 Strike Week 3: Coming Attractions

Fun as this is, think they cleared the music? Written by Danny Zuker and Tim Kelleher, who also directed.

Craig Mazin tries to separate the noise from the news. The commenters are more restrained than previously, and are posting about the Teamsters who’re crossing the picket lines. FBLA’s next door neighbor is a grip, who’s mighty glad to be on location, he says. But our designer pal, whose show went dark, says his crew is pissed off.

John August has a cute anecdote about seeing Peter Roth in Mozza, which sort of undercuts the whole “Writers–they’re just like us!” meme. In a similar vein, Campanile will open a Writer’s Soup Kitchen on Wed. with a $18 prix fixe dinner menu, which is cold comfort to assistants who don’t have union cards or jobs or a spare $20. The nicely brought-up writer will take a whole group of unemployed to dinner.

Ken Levine takes a brisk turn around holiday movies. Fred Claus is gonna tank:

ELF it’s not. ALF it’s not.

People really hate Vince Vaughn, don’t they?

Tomorrow is the big multi-union march down Hollywood Blvd, so wear red, and show up at 1 PM at the corner of Ivar Ave and Hollywood Blvd.

Ken Levine: American Idolatry

IDOL_HD_w-i-p.jpg

Ken Levine goes where no straight guy over 26 went before: American Idol. Watching the show in the studio wasn’t a relevatory experience for Levine, earsplitting rather than earth shattering. (Who wants a hot dog after a tour of Hormel?)

He’s got a great one-liner:

Jennifer Lopez giving singing tips is like Eddie Griffith giving driving tips.

Michael Slezak, at EW.com, tosses off a great observation:

What can be said of Haley’s take on Gloria Estefan’s cover of Vickie Sue Robinson’s Turn the Beat Around? That it had as much Latin flavor as one of Newt Gingrich’s appearances on Hannity & Colmes?

Going home tonight: Sanjaya? Phil? Chris?
