The hacks managed to pull out a Guitar Hero win at last night’s Hacks ‘n Flacks party at Artica Bar. Our win was, in large part, due to the amazing GH stylings of AgencySpy‘s Matt Van Hoven, and no thanks to FishbowlNY editor Amanda Ernst, who was crushed by PRNewser‘s Joe Ciarallo during the first round of the competition.

The bar was jammed with journalists and publicists mingling, drinking and enjoying the sounds of Aerosmith-themed Guitar Hero — despite the occasional video booing when players couldn’t complete a round.

One hack and one flack — the high scorers on each side after several rounds of play — scored two free passes each to Mediabistro’s media panel on Thursday.

Thanks to everyone who came out, and a very special thanks to those who bravely attempted to play Guitar Hero. We know it wasn’t easy, especially with everyone staring at your butt!

This morning, we saw that our colleagues over at PRNewser were promising to “axe” the journos (or “hacks”) at the Flacks ‘n’ Hacks party we are jointly hosting on Monday. Well we’re not going to take that lying down! We’re hoping to gather a great group of journalists — who are also very skilled at Guitar Hero — so we can lay the smack down on the PR pros.

Steve and Glynnis, the two original co-hosts of mediabistro’s Menu, talked about their new site, particularly it’s unique Power Grid ranking section. They also discussed plans for upcoming events and live-blogging the Michael Jackson memorial yesterday along with TVNewser editors Chris Ariens and Kevin Allocca.
