It’s an old axiom: Figure out what you want (and love) to do at an early age, and life as a grown-up will be pretty great.

Kevin Weatherly (pictured) certainly bears that out. The man CBS Radio president Dan Mason calls “one of the most influential and respected programmers in the music industry today” got the professional ball rolling while still in middle school. From the official announcement:

Weatherly’s career in radio began at age 12 at KPIN-FM in Casa Grande, Arizona. From 1983–87, he worked as a disc jockey and music director at KZZP-FM in Phoenix. Weatherly became the music director for KMEL-FM in San Francisco in 1987. From there, Weatherly became music director at Los Angeles’ KIIS-FM in 1988.
