NY Times KimYe Butt Correction Named Correction of The Year

At Poynter, Craig Silverman has released his annual Year in Media Errors and Corrections list, and once again, it’s a good read. The New York Times earned the honor of Correction of The Year by publishing this gem:

A truly worthy correction. It’s not often one combines butts, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and a writer getting fooled by a fake news site and radio station.

As for the Media Error of the year, we’ll give you one guess which magazine won.

W Wants Everyone to Remember Its Naked Kim Kardashian Cover

Stefano Tonchi, editor of W, was not a fan of Paper’s naked Kim Kardashian cover. Why? Because it made everyone forget about W’s naked Kim Kardashian cover, published in 2010.

Of course, that’s not what Tonchi said. He told The New York Post that W’s front page was superior to Paper’s because W “used” Kardashian, not the other way around.

“Everybody says, ‘Oh my God, look at the cover of Paper magazine with Kim Kardashian,’” Tonchi said. “I’m like, yeah, I think she is using them. We used her… It was Kim Kardashian being used by W, not Kim Kardashian using W. There’s a big difference.”

He doesn’t sound jealous at all!

Let’s just let Tonchi have this one. He came out on top in the Great Naked Kim Kardashian Magazine Cover Debate that only he was having.

Kourtney Kardashian Poses Nude for DuJour

Another day, another naked Kardashian. This time it’s Kourtney Kardashian getting naked for DuJour. Kourtney is the older sister of Kim Kardashian, who bared it all for Paper last month.

At this point we’re wondering if the Kardashian’s held a family meeting and declared everyone (of age!) has to pose nude for a magazine before the year is over. In fact, we were tipped this morning that the Kardashian’s cat has already nabbed Cat Fancy’s next cover, and it is quite lewd.

Jonathan Cheban Builds Out The Dishh

Entrepreneur, reality TV show star and man-about-town Jonathan Cheban has known entertainment journalist David Caplan for a long time, dating back to his days as a publicist and Caplan’s work for People, Star magazine and other outlets. So when Cheban was looking to add a managing editor to his nascent entertainment and lifestyle website The Dishh, he knew Caplan was a perfect fit.

“Right now, David has got six or seven writers that he’s dealing with,” Cheban tells FishbowlNY via telephone from Miami. “Because I travel so much, I needed someone who really knows what he’s doing and can help me expand the platform, move into a TV show with it as well and do video. I’ve known David for a long time and I just love his personality.”

The Dishh, for which Cheban is partnered with technology and media company Black Ocean, is divided into four playfully titled verticals: Drooling (food), Need This (products/gadgets), Star Struck (entertainment) and Don’t Judge (lifestyle/opinion). Caplan, who started Monday, says he’s open to freelance pitches.

NY Times Corrects Article with Fake Kanye Quote

The editors at The New York Times don’t think much of Kanye West. If they did, they’d probably be skeptical of a quote in which he said his butt was superior to Kim Kardashian’s. That’s a bit much, even for Kanye. Instead, the editors ran an article with such a quote, despite it being pulled from satirical site The Daily Currant:

At least the editors have now learned two lessons: 1) The Daily Currant is a fake news site and 2) No one has a better butt than Kim Kardashian.

Anna Wintour Admits KimYe Vogue Cover Was Publicity Stunt

Anna Wintour has admitted that the infamous Vogue cover that featured Kanye West and Kim Kardashian was simply a way to get people talking about the magazine. Fashionista reports that while speaking at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Wintour gave the couple one hell of a backhanded compliment:

Of Course Paper Retouched its Kim Kardashian Cover

Kim_cover_web_2

Surprising no one (hopefully) the editorial director of Paper has admitted that the infamous Kim Kardashian cover was retouched. Mickey Boardman told Us Weekly that while there was plenty of smoothing things out, Kardashian’s butt was the real deal:

Every cover of every magazine is airbrushed on some level. But what I will say, is that is her butt. It is not padded. It is not augmented. That is all really her. But, yes, there was retouching to clean things up and make things look amazing. That’s what retouching is. It’s not building an ass that isn’t there or taking 50 pounds off the waist.

Obviously we don’t believe that Kardashian’s waist is that thin, mainly because how could she walk around like that? It seems like she’d always be toppling over. Like a sad and weird — but rich! — doll.

Kim Kardashian Gets Naked for Paper

Kim_cover_web_2

One easy way to get your magazine noticed is to have a celebrity with a giant and fantastic — career, pose completely naked on the cover. To the editors of Paper’s credit, that’s exactly what they did. They oiled up Kim Kardashian West, told her to get naked, and hoped for the best. It certainly got our attention.

This is actually the second Paper cover featuring Kardashian West. The other one is a recreation of Jean-Paul Goude’s “champagne incident,” with Kardashian West balancing a glass of champagne on her ass. Art is great.

Kanye West preferred this cover. He tweeted the image along with #ALLDAY. Consider the Paper mission accomplished.

Vogue Says it’s Okay to Like Big Butts Now

In what can only be described as an attempt to sound as out-of-touch as possible, Vogue has announced that “We’re officially in the era of the big booty.

The magazine claims that the era began with Kim Kardashian’s groundbreaking idiot tour, Keeping up With The Kardashians, in 2007. ”It made the entire clan famous, of course, but Kardashian’s behind was the real star, and was frequently employed as a plot device,” explained the glossy.

Vogue also insists that Instagram made booty a desirable trait, and even oddly highlights Miley Cyrus — a woman with zero, perhaps even negative booty — as someone pioneering this movement. It would be hilarious if it wasn’t so scarily wrong. Disrespecting the booty is not a laughing matter.

Media Rushes to Keep Up with Latest Kim Kardashian Nude Spread

In terms of answered SEO prayers, it doesn’t get much better at the midpoint of the first work week of September for scrambling U.S. webmasters than “Kim Kardashian” + “Naked.”

The deliverer of this gift from the traffic gods is British GQ. Their 2014 Woman of the Year does a very good Beyonce impression, both on the cover and inside. Complex raves that the pictures snapped by Tom Munro “may be the sexiest we’ve ever seen.” E! Online suggests “post-baby Kim has still got it.” US Weekly declares “she’s a whole lotta woman.” And HollywoodLife leads with “no need for phone hacking.”
