Larry Charles in January W

In the January W Gabe Snyder gets director Larry Charles to talk about life BB (before Borat) and AB (after Borat).

When it was clear that Borat was going to be a giant hit, Charles was deluged with studio offers to direct what he calls “big-budgeted bad comedies.” He sent all the scripts back. “I have a moral qualm with a $100 million movie,” he says.

Snyder thinks Charles looks like a missing ZZ Top member, which isn’t exactly original.
Full disclosure: we’ve worked for him; we think he looks like a runaway rabbi; we think he’s a genius, too.

Bill Maher, Larry Charles Storm Toronto: Religulous

Up in Toronto, Larry Charles treated the critics to a sneak preview of his documentary-in-progress, Religulous

Mark Olson loved it.

Greg Kirschling loved it.

JD McNamara really loved it:

They have some genuinely funny stuff on their hands and considering that they are both veritable comedic geniuses, I’m expecting the best from their final product. These two have traveled across the world to find some of the wackiest “believers” out there and it should be absolute gold.
