Dana Bowen Named Every Day with Rachael Ray Executive Editor

Dana Bowen has been named the new Executive Editor of Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine. Bowen was most recently the Executive Editor of Saveur. Bowen joined Saveur in 2007, after working for several years as a freelance writer. Bowen also received an Eddie award and a James Beard award nomination for her writing in 2010.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dana to our team,” said Lauren Purcell, Editor-in-Chief of Every Day with Rachael Ray. “Her creative talent, rich background in publishing and passion for food, travel and lifestyle journalism will be a huge asset as we continue to expand our editorial content to best connect with readers.”

Bowen begins May 4.

Meredith Names EveryDay with Rachael Ray Editor-in-Chief

Meredith has named Lauren Purcell the new Editor-in-Chief of EverDay with Rachael Ray. Purcell comes to the magazine from Self, where she most recently worked as its Executive Editor. She will report to Linda Fears, Editorial Director of Meredith Food Content, and the Editor-in-Chief of Family Circle.

“Lauren brings an intimate knowledge of American women’s lifestyle, food, and entertaining interests, and a vision and understanding on how to reach them across multiple platforms,” said Tom Witschi, Executive Vice President, National Media Group. “We are confident that Lauren will further expand the magazine’s leadership and voice in the marketplace.”

Purcell’s first day is January 9.

Self Magazine Announces Two Promotions

Self has announced two promotions to their editorial management team as the magazine continues to expand across additional platforms. Carla Levy will act as editorial director and Lauren Purcell will be executive editor.

Levy has been with the magazine for nine years, and has most recently held the title of  executive editor. Before joining Self, Levy worked in editorial positions for a number of magazines, including Family Circle, Ladies’ Home Journal, Glamour and Fitness. She has also written for More and Parents and has formerly been chief editor on Brides Magazine’s Receptions special issues.

Purcell has been with the magazine for a decade. Previously, she had worked as the senior features editor of Mademoiselle and has also been the assistant managing editor of Harper’s Bazaar.
