NY1 Dedicates Week to Programming for Grand Central Terminal’s 100th Anniversary

It’s a symbol of New York. The structure is an architectural wonder. Grand Central Terminal is turning 100, and NY1 is marking the occasion with a week-long series of reports.

Grand Central Terminal at 100: All Aboard, hosted by Lewis Dodley, will delve into the station’s iconic history, hidden treasures, and art. In addition, NY1 will look at the commuter hub’s place in pop culture, including several backdrops in New York films.

Reporters Roger Clark, Stephanie Simon, Bobby Cuza and others take a look at the rails and their stories each day on NY1.

The week’s reports will be shown in a half-hour special on Saturday, February 2 and Sunday, 3 at 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.. It will also be available on NY1 On Demand on channel 1111.

Janice Huff, Otis Livingston Among McDonald’s Black Media Legends

As February began, so did Black History Month. On Tuesday, McDonald’s Tri-State Area Restaurants held their annual Black Media Legends luncheon at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

This year’s class includes WCBS/Channel 2 sports anchor Otis Livingston (far right), WNBC/Channel 4 meteorologist Janice Huff, WABC/Channel 7 anchor Sade Baderinwa, and veteran NY1 anchor Lewis Dodley.

As Black Media Legends, the inductees were awarded a trophy. They are also part of the Faces of Black History poster, given free at the more than 600 area McDonald’s throughout February.

McDonald’s Names Annual List of Black Media Legends

For the 9th year, McDonald’s, in recognition of Black History Month, has named New York-based talent as Black Media Legends.

FishbowlNY will be on hand February 1 when those chosen are feted at a Waldorf-Astoria luncheon.

TV Stations Ready for Election Night Coverage

We continue our look at the election night coverage, with check on how the area TV station’s news departments are gearing up for their big night.

WCBS/Channel 2

Updates throughout the day during regular newscasts.

CBS 2 News at 11 p.m. will be extended to an hour broadcast.

Updated cut-ins through out primetime.

CBS News led by Katie Couric will do an election one hour special broadcast at 10 p.m.

WNBC/Channel 4

Coverage will focus on mainly the races for the New York Governor and Connecticut senate.

The will provide cut-ins on the main channel during primetime. NY Nonstop will be live from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
