Former Fox Broadcasting entertainment president Peter Liguori has been named chief operating officer of Discovery Communications, replacing Mark Hollinger, who was promoted to president and CEO of Discovery Networks International last week.
In addition to overseeing Discovery’s marketing, corporate communications, business affairs and media technology, production and operations, Liguori will also represent the company in its joint ventures, including its relationship with Oprah Winfrey‘s network OWN.
Liguori left Fox in March, after serving as president of entertainment since 2005. Prior to that, he had been president and CEO of News Corp.’s FX Networks for several years.
Most recently, Liguori was reportedly working as an adviser to Comcast as the company negotiated its deal for a majority stake in NBC Universal.
