Anthony DeMaio Named VP Sales, Associate Publisher of Slate

Anthony DeMaio has been named vice president sales, associate publisher of Slate. DeMaio comes to Slate from The Washington Post, where he served as sales director for its Eastern region since 2007. Prior to that he was a national account manager for Washington Post Digital.

“Anthony is a tremendous addition to our team,” said Matt Turck, publisher of Slate. “He’s a legend in the business, and there is no one better suited to lead our national sales team to continued and growing success. We’re thrilled to have him.”

DeMaio is succeeding Turck, who was named publisher of Slate in early September.

DeMaio’s new role is effective October 4.

Slate Names Matt Turck Publisher

Slate, the online magazine from The Washington Post Company, has named Matt Turck its new publisher. Turck has been Slate’s vice president of sales and marketing since 2009.

Turck will succeed John Alderman, who has been named COO of SocialCode, another venture owned by The Washington Post.

“Alderman and Turck are two of the best in the business,” said Jacob Weisberg, chairman and editor-in-chief of the Slate Group. “While I’m saddened by John’s departure from Slate, I’m thrilled to welcome Matt to the helm and eagerly anticipating a continuation of the innovative thinking he’s brought to Slate around advertising and marketing.”

Turck’s appointment is effective September 10.
