Meredith Makes Four Big Promotions

Meredith Corporation has made a few fairly big promotions today. Below are the details.

  • Christine Guilfoyle has been promoted to VP/group publisher, overseeing Allrecipes, Every Day with Rachael Ray, and EatingWell. She reports to Tom Witschi, the executive VP/president of Meredith Women’s Lifestyle Group.
  • Linda Fears has tacked VP onto her role as editor-in-chief of Family Circle. Fears has been the editor of the magazine for the past eight years. Fears will also continue as editorial director of Meredith’s Food Content Center of Excellence. Fears continues to report to Jim Carr, executive VP and President of Family Circle.
  • Cheryl Brown has been named editor-in-chief of Allrecipes magazine. Brown most recently served as editorial director of Brown will report to Fears.
  • Britta Cleveland has been promoted to senior VP, research solutions. Cleveland has been with Meredith in 2004, most recently serving as VP, research solutions. She continues to report to Nancy Weber, executive VP/CMO.

Move Aside Alpha Males, Gamma Women Are The Latest Marketing Tool For Meredith

mer.pngLast year, magazine publisher Meredith Corp. produced a report that revealed the rise of what Meredith dubbed “Gamma Women” — influential and well-connected women who share and exchange information.

After identifying Gammas and touting their importance, Meredith is looking for ways to use its network of high-powered female readers as a marketing tool. Meredith, which publishes women’s magazines like More, Ladies Home Journal and Better Homes and Gardens, estimates that its Gamma audience is 55 million American women strong.

So now Meredith has partnered with women’s marketing network SheSpeaks to launch a new product that will take advantage of its Gamma network, spread word about products through Meredith’s magazines and promote products and brands through word of mouth. This new marketing approach can be tailored for each specific product or brand, Meredith said.
