DirecTV Flubs Spice Girls Reunion

DirecTV customers in Los Angeles that were anxiously awaiting Sunday’s Spice Girls reunion in HD from the Olympic closing ceremonies were left disappointed when NBC’s signal was disrupted.

“We are looking into the cause and what we can do for customers who missed part of the closing ceremony,” DirecTV said in a statement.

Following a 30-minute outage, service was restored — after the Spice Girls reunion.

The closing ceremonies aired a second time early Monday morning on NBC.

How about free NFL Sunday Ticket to make up for the outage, DirecTV? No?

It was worth a shot.

Fred Roggin Failed to Get Stanley Cup Final on NBC

Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final just wrapped up and if you don’t get the NBC Sports Network at home, you’ve missed the last two Los Angeles Kings home games.

NBC4 sports anchor Fred Roggin tried to get his station to air the games locally but didn’t have any luck, according to SportsByBrooks.com:

The good news is NBC will carry the remaining Stanley Cup Final games. Game 5 is Saturday night in New Jersey.

NBC4 Names Todd Mokhtari VP of News

Former NBC4 managing editor Todd Mokhtari is returning to his old station as the new vice president of news.

Mokhtari is making the jump from KIRO-TV in Seattle, where he served as the news director and web manager.

In 2006, Mokhtari was the managing editor of NBC4 and in charge of the day-to-day coverage and editorial direction of the news department.

“Returning to NBC4 Southern California at this time is a tremendous opportunity,” said Mokhtari in a statement. “The station is moving aggressively to differentiate itself through high-quality enterprise stories, and I am humbled to join NBC4′s highly respected news team in this role.”

Mokhtari will report to president and general manager Steve Carlston.

Report: Jennifer Bjorklund Out at NBC4

Reporter/anchor Jennifer Bjorklund was let go by NBC4, according to LA Observed.

“Everybody is very sad,” an NBC4 employee told Kevin Roderick. “She is the most likeable and popular person in the newsroom. Loved by the camera crews and engineers. Hard worker, great attitude and had something not often found in local television: personality.”

Bjorklund was hired in 2000 by NBC4 and was previously the morning news co-anchor on Today in LA.
