For a time, Fred Schruers was a full-time member of TheWrap staff. He has since moved on to freelance feature writing and today is back on the site as part of an intriguing Sara Morrison item.

According to Morrison’s sources, Schruers will be helping singer Billy Joel write an upcoming authorized biography. You may recall that Joel previously agreed to write a memoir for Harper Collins in 2011 but then reneged:

Joel will work with the ghost writer of the [previously planned] autobiography, Schruers, on the book. One individual told TheWrap that Joel was inspired by the success of the authorized biography of Bruce Springsteen by Peter Ames Carlin. Released in November 2012, Bruce was well-received by critics and audiences alike.
