Set in ten bars around LA, writer-director Sebastien Gutierrez‘s comedy-drama Girl Walks Into a Bar stars such familiar names as Carla Gugino, Rosario Dawson, Josh Hartnett, Danny DeVito, and Zachary Quinto. However, when the film premieres March 11th, it will do so not in theaters but rather simultaneously at SXSW and on YouTube, for free.

Producer Steve Bing and promotional partner Lexus are dubbing their movie “the first major motion picture created specifically for web distribution.” Per today’s press release:

“The movie escapes the confines of traditional film production and is a bold undertaking that is set to transform the film industry,” said Dave Nordstrom, vice president of marketing, Lexus. “It seems fitting to support this initiative as we launch our most unconfined vehicle yet—the CT 200h hybrid —in a space that we know will reach an unconventional, sophisticated audience.”
